Schenn for Schenn

F Brayden Schenn

D Luke Schenn

I don't know whether or not it has already been discussed and I know that it would most likely never happen. I just wanted to hear what other people thought. They are only one year apart and were both drafted in the top 5. Luke has more experience than Brayden. Luke has potential to be a top two D-man and Brayden to be a first line center/ winger

Would you do it?

Why does Toronto do this? Luke Schenn's already had a good rookie season and played well in the second half of the year last season. Plus they have Kadri and Bozak as their future centers.

I sure as hell wouldn't, not after seeing Luke for two seasons.

I'd do Kadri for Brayden, other than that the brothers won't ever be on the same team.

Both teams say no, Schenn will be the Kings future #2 center and they already have a solid shutdown D-man in Teubert.

They could if LA signs Schenn to an offer sheet next year (ok that won't likely happen since Edmonton will likely beat LA to it).

LA has absolutely no need for the defenseman Schenn. Their D is stacked.

This makes zero sense for the Leafs.

Brayden is a talented and promising kid. but we already know what Luke can do in the NHL and he's only getting better.

On top of that, the Leafs build from the net out and they already have Bozak-Kadri-Grabovski down the middle.

what kind of offer sheet could they offer? They have to sign Doughty at that time.

Doughty
Johnson
Greene
Scuderi
Hickey
Voinov
Muzzin
Forbort
Tuebert

I mean, I can't see a need for Luke.

We need Brayden way more than Luke and I don't think he really established himself as a top pairing guy as of yet so no thanks.

They have a TON of cap space moving forward. 2 bad contracts coming off the books next year (Handzus's 4 mil and Williams 3.5mil) is more than enough to pay for Doughty's raise and probably enough to even cover Johnson's raise.

Or if you want to go with hard numbers... if the cap stays the same, the Kings have 9 players signed @ ~30mil leaving 30mil of cap space to sign player ~ 12-14 players. If Doughty, Simmons, and Johnson all resign for a total of say 12 mil, that still leaves them with 18mil to sign 9-11 players and thats without the cap going up.

Of course i was kidding with my post but if you want to go by numbers, there's no doubt the Kings can throw in a decent size offer sheet (if they wanted).

L.Schenn has more value and already has two years of NHL experience under his belt. No thanks.

I think LA is counting on B.Shenn to be a future number 2 center and Luke is a proven NHL player so it doesn't make sense at all.

Yeah not happening from the Leafs point of view. Seems the Kings think the same.

I wouldn't touch that either and once again, I don't think LA would.

Don't think either team has any interest in such a trade. Neat concept though.

See I love Kadri, but Brayden does seem to suit our needs more.

Because the kings are weak at center, so we need Brayden to step up and be the #2. Whereas we aren't weak on D and dont need schenn to step in as the #4. We would be dealing away from a position that we are weak, for a position we are strong

I don't think LA is going to say "we don't need a shutdown dman, we have Teubert". He's a prospect.
