Devils Ink Kovalchuk! (17Y 6M) [Kovy Lover Post 1] [Epic Caption Game Post 368]

Lou: Oh dang..

JVB: What is it dawg?

LL: I'm so glad it’s Kovy’s Day.

JVB: Gotta big gift for him.

LL: No other plans could get in the way.
He won't be dissappointed.

JVB: Damn I think so too.

LL: This couldn't have been sweeter.

Both: Thank God Lombardi's as cheap as a Jew!

JVB: My Kovy's been so undecisive
Ever since Lombardi left.

LL: COLD

JVB: No one to give him more.
Life has put him to the test.

LL: I know just what you mean,
my Kovy’s been so sad and gray

JVB: Word

LL: Lombardi couldn’t satisfy him in the wallet ever since he walked away.

Both: Hold up.

LL: You thinkin’ what I’m thinkin’?

JVB: I’m thinkin’ I’m thinkin’ too

Both: Slow up

LL: What time is it dawg?

JVB: It’s time for a payaroo

Both: We both love our Kovy, A man with grown man needs
I say we give a 100 mill
Show him how much he really mean
’cause I’m a Kovy Lover
you’re a Kovy Lover
We should pay our precious Kovy

JVB: Pay our precious Kovs
You’ve seen that place that he came out from?
ain’t no doubt you'll get shot down thurr.
Pay our precious Kovs

Both: ’cause every Kovy’s Day needs the Rangers tears
If 17 years is wrong, I don’t wanna be right
I’m callin’ on you ’cause I can’t afford it myself
to me you’re like a brother, so be my Kovy lover

LL: I’m sittin’ in my room waitin’ for our Kov
clutchin’ on this contract and jerseys

JVB: I got my digital camera, I’m gonna make our Kovy do a million poses

LL: He will be so surprised

JVB: We are so cool and thoughtful

LL: Can’t wait to pay our Kov

JVB: I’m gonna be the banker, he can be my clientele

Both: Show’d up

JVB: My Kovy loves cash with long term security

Both: Straight up

LL: Give it to my Kovy Ch – Ch - ch – ch- ch – ch – chicagostyle

Both: This the perfect plan
For a perfect Kovy’s Day
They have to rename this one
**** yo stupid couches day
‘Cause I’m a Kovy Lover
you’re a Kovy Lover
We should pay our precious Kovy

JVB: Pay our precious Kovs
He’ll push us to first place
Make them Penguins cry as a baby
ain’t no doubt that caphit is crazy
Pay our precious Kovs

LL: Break it down
It would be my honor to be your big banker

JVB: It would be my honor to be your big financer

LL: I’ll let you pay our Kovy
He'll get me another Trophy
and I’m gonna pay Zach too
I’ll never stop makin' paper

JVB: YE'
’cause every Kovy’s Day needs a Gagne trade.
If 17 years is wrong, I don’t wanna be right
I’m callin’ on you ’cause I can’t pay him myself
to me you’re like a brother, so be my Kovy lover
He blessed us both with the gift of goals
He came back to this team so I’m a pay him right
This is the second best idea that we’ve ever had
The choice can be no other
Be my Kovy lover

I don't think this has been mentioned yet, but the Devils and Thrashers are officially both winners from the trade.

This definitely justifies the trade. No question about it.

Which was another line in the "it's always something" hater camp. "That trade is going to be one of the worst in history when he bolts NJ like every other free agent." "LolZ teh Devls gots ***** 4 a rentul!"

Looks like a hell of a good trade now.

Well yes and no. If this was signed before July 1st, then yes. Because he was still a full UFA, it can be said that it was just a UFA signing.

Depending on how productive Kovy is here, and whether we win a Cup with him, that trade could end up being very good for us.

At the same time, Atlanta has sped up their post-Kovy rebuild through smart management of assets. So neither team looks to be getting hosed from this. The best kind of trade.

I don't look at it that way. Do you think Kovy would have had any interest in signing here if he hadn't already spent 4 months with the team, because of the trade? Do you think Lou would have thrown this contract at Kovy if he didn't already know he was a good fit here, again, because of the trade?

I think the answer to both of those questions is no, so this is not "just a UFA signing". The trade was crucial to Kovy becoming a lifetime Devil, and now the fact that Kovy is a lifetime Devil also retroactively justifies the trade, if that makes sense.
