2010-2011 Florida Panthers Prospect Poll #7

Repik is winning the last one pretty convincingly, I'll start the 7th poll up early. Sidebar: Anyone know how to close a poll prematurely? Lucky #7.

The final list will be comprised of the top 20 prospects followed by 3 honorable mentions. The nature of the poll is there are 10 prospects to select from and you can post who should be added to the next poll.

Used the following requirements for prospect qualification:
1) 25YO or under
2) Played in less than 50 NHL games in career
3) No more than 41 games in a single season.

I am going to go Garrison as well here. I really don't see how the kids just drafted (McFarland and Howden) have proven more then Ellerby and Garrison. Sure their ceilings are higher, but ellerby and Garrison have a better chance of helping this organization right now statistically speaking (since its far less likely they will bust this far into their development). Therefore they are the next two for me.

This is a tough one. I would vote for Garrison, but I hate the thought of him being considered a prospect. Howden I'm just not sure on. I will think about my vote.... Leaning toward Garrison since by THIS definition, he's considered a prospect even though I personally don't consider him one.

I voted McFarland. Garrison is not a prospect anymore, is he?

He's an option in this poll (read the requirements). Poll #4 answers any questions regarding his candidacy.

As said before, I think this is where the list gets cloudy. I definitely predict a runoff here.

I feel icky voting for Garrison as a prospect, but by the standards set by both Hockeysfuture and by TimHortons, he's a prospect. With limited upside, however. He's a sure thing to fulfill his potential for a few good years as a bottom pairing defenseman, but that's it.

There's also Ellerby, who's development has seriously stalled since graduating to the pro ranks. I think that if he doesn't step it up this camp, he's trade bait.

I'd like to vote Dadonov, but after his little temper tantrum, I don't see him sticking with the Panthers very long considering there's a logjam of grinders and prospects at forward ahead of him this season. Which really sucks, because he's got solid 2nd line potential.

Salak started last season well, and was one of the more highly targeted undrafted UFA's when we signed him, but his productivity waned pretty hard once Plante took over. His development is at a crossroads right now for sure.

Then there's McFarland and Howden. Both talented, for sure. Howden's more of a sure thing 2nd/3rd line guy, and McFarland is the high risk scoring winger.

Bah, I'm not voting. It's between Salak/Dadonov/Howden/Garrison for me. I'm torn.

OK fine. Lets get Garrison the 25 year old "prospect" out of the way.
add Timmins

McFarland over Howden, because McFarland has better potential. Howden is the safest pick tho.

Add Brickley.

So because their older they should be ranked higher here? This is a list for who will be the best player in a few years.

Barring a miracle, it almost certainly looks like a run-off is going to be in the order.

What's really funny is that it would not matter. So far almost every single vote is for Ellerby, McFarland, Howden, or Garrison.

This one might actually need multiple runoffs.

i struggled with this one but went with this logic as well. im not voting for garrison because hes not a prospect in my book. so for me it was between howden and mcfarland and im just so caught on his potential that i couldnt not vote for him.

Just for that, I'm going to wait until it's down to the wire and vote for the guy that makes it a multi-candidate runoff.

Garrison may be considered a "prospect", but he's almost a full year older than Olesz.
