Boston-NYI

To Boston:

Kyle Okposo (1.6 million)

To NYI:

Michael Ryder (4 million)
Zach Hamill (1.3 million)
Boston's 1st round pick 2011

Boston get's a good young RW to play with Krejci and aslo save 2.4 million in cap space to sign Wheeler and Seguin with sturm's money. NYI get a RW to replace Okposo for the year, a good prospect in Hamill who could be a future number 2 center behind Tavares and also throw in the Bruins 1st round pick to get them to take ryder's 4 million dollar contract.

Lucic-Savard-Horton
Wheeler-Krejci-Okposo
Recchi-Bergeron-Seguin
Paille-Campbell-Thornton

When Sturm returns:

Lucic-Savard-Horton
Wheeler-Krejci-Okposo
Sturm-Bergeron-Seguin
Paille/Recchi-Campbell-Thornton
Thoughts?

The first is like a early second.

Give them Leafs first (Top 10 protected)
Than trade us Savard, so you dont have to worry about the leafs doing well.

It is like an April Fools Trade ....LOL and the Isles would deal Okposo why?

The B's are the team in need of dumping payroll......so the Isles would get rid of there first line winger for ????

Sorry Not Happening....

Islanders say no.

Okposo is their best forward right now and will be their best winger.

Islanders would give up their big young piece other than Tavares for a cap dump, a guy who likely won't be their 2nd line centre (Re: Josh Bailey) and a top 7 pick who may or may not have the upside Okposo does currently.

If Boston really needs Ryder gone for capspace, maybe Ryder + Hamill for some sort of decent prospect or decent NHL defenseman like Martinek and a 4th. This would obviously help the Isles not only reach a cap floor (which they would do just easily by signing a couple guys for a year higher than they are worth) but help their rebuild.

My thoughts.

You couldn't pry Okposo from Garth's cold dead fingers. He's not going anywhere.

As said earlier, imo hamill doesn't displace bailey, so this trade is slanted heavily towards the b's. No way from isles pov

Hamill is a devalued Prospect that The Bruins own scouts feel will be a bust if he doesn't make strides this season, and Ryder is a salary cap dump.... adding a second makes this package worth maybe a 4th rounder not Okposo

A resounding NO

There is one major flaw in your reasoning... Mike Milbury is no longer GM of the Isles.

How can you Honestly justify taking the Islanders 2nd best/most promising player, whom is the assistant Captain of the team and getting better every year and trading him for a bunch of spare parts? If you were to try to trade him id want no less than Chara, Wheeler, Seguin and possibly a first for the future Capatin of The young Islanders.

The islanders will make the salary floor, they are not giving up one of its top assets to get there. If the Islanders do take on a salary dump it will be because the Islanders get assets with the dump.

Agree w/ ya except the bolded part.. Sarcasm I hope. But your point is valid, here's my guess at what the move would look like:

To NYI:
Ryder
BOS 2011 1st

To BOS:
NYI 2012 5th

like we'd trade KO for spare parts & a salary dump...

Wrong forum...you need to post this in this forum

You could throw in Toronto's 1st next year and the Islanders still don't even consider it.

Okposo has improved - steadily - in each of his two seasons on the Islanders. Kyle is already the assistant captain, and has had only one year playing with John Tavares and is already over 50 points as a 22 year old.

Lay.
Off.
The.
Crack.

Brutal proposal. We'd have to take Tavares back to even stuff out.

In all seriousness, it would cost Colborne + and the Isles would have no reason to do this trade as they've already got a legit 1st line franchise centreman. Not gonna happen.
