Moss has absolutely no value to us. We don't need a 3/4th line left winger. We would love White though.

The guys I would have interest in aside from white are Glencross and Regehr. White + Glencross for Seto + 2nd is something I'd probably do. Or White + Regehr for Seto + Murray.

Honestly, trading Seto is tough for us as we NEED his speed. That's why Clowe is much easier to trade.

White holds the most value in this trade, so I'd say no from a Calgary perspective. I wouldn't let White go unless it was Setoguchi + a 2nd for White, but for SJ to do that they'd need White signed for longer than 1 season.

Sharks would surely sign White to a multi-year deal but that's massive overpayment for him.

I'd rather do Clowe + (Ferreiro, Mashinter or 3rd) for White.

I don't really view it as a massive overpayment, but that may just be do to my natural homerism. I love Seto and would love him on the Flames, but just not at the expense of White. I desperately want the core of the Flames D for the next 5-7 years to be White, Bouwmeester and Giordano.

So Regehr is available then?

Trading Clowe to the Flames is a beyond stupid move.

Probably stupider then Kaberle for Clowe.

Clowe would be a thorn to our side on ANY divisional team, and ANY team on the top 10 standings within the conference.

I would honestly pass on Seto at this point. White after all got more points than him last year.

I know it might just be a soft-more slump, but giving up a great defeceman like White is just too risky. During 2008/2009, Seto spent a lot of time with Marleau and Thornton on the top line.

Seto just has too much in common with Cheechoo at this point for me to give up White.

Haha, well if you listen to rumours then yeah I'd say Regehr actually is available (with that Savard/Regehr deal that apparently got nixed by one of their NTC's).

the Flames need to make a decision sooner or later on Regehr though. We've got Sarich playing in the bottom pairing when he's more than capable of playing 2nd pairing minutes and doing a good job of it. So in the next while, (I'd wager prior to Tuesday's arbitration hearing with White), they'll either trade Sarich for some sort of pick, or trade Regehr for an actual quality return. Otherwise, they're in a rough spot with pretty much 10 nhl d-men

Regehr
Bouwmeester
White
Giordano
Staios
Sarich
Pardy
Kronwall

And both Pelech and Negrin ready to make the jump to the big team (only one of them will, but both are more or less ready).

I don't see that way at all, I'd say it's more or less a wash, with the draft picks not being needed at all. San Jose should acquire a top tier shutdown d-men, and Reggie still is one of the best at that.

Boyle - Regehr would be a great combo.

Are the 4th and 5th picks really necessary?

I'd rather trade White to the Stars for Ribiero. The Flames don't need another winger.

That's where you and I disagree. I'm not convinced the Flames are a top 10 team in the West (yes, Flame on Flames fans- nice alliteration).

Also, you're higher on Clowe than I am. He'd be a loss this year but we have a few prospects that could take his place.

I won't Flame for it, last year was a disaster. But I'll simply ask why you don't think so?

We still have a top 5 defense (even with how poorly Regehr and Bouwmeester played last season), a top 5 goalie, and last year our offense was non-existent.

That terrible offense though was because we had Dawes, Sjostrom, Lundmark, Langkow and Nystrom rotating through the top 6. We now have a top 9 of:

Tanguay - Jokinen - Iginla
Hagman - Stajan - Bourque
Glencross - Langkow - Backlund

vs. last season's

Nystrom - Jokinen - Iginla
Dawes - Langkow - Bourque
Glencross - Conroy - Moss

I think a lot of people will be surprised by the Flames this season.

Ok, I'll bite, where are these Big NHL ready top 6 puck possession winger prospects at?

If Regehr is available, I could see the Shark's and Flames making a trade. We are not division opponents so the impact is negligible on either team.

We'd have to move some salary to fit Regehr. Most likely some combination of Clowe, Seto, Murray and Huskins.

Ideally I'd love to get both White and Regehr, but I don't know if CGY can afford to give them both up.
