Big Bruins fan at work came up to me and said even he teared up...and it was one of the greatest things he had ever seen.
Say what you want, but the Habs know how to put on a show... Class all the way.
I think it was after the Forum closed and they put on that magnificent ceremony with the torch, that one sports writer wrote, "There are two organizations on the planet that define the word 'class': Buckingham Palace, and the Montreal Canadiens."
That's stuck with me ever since. (Say what you will about the rest of the royal family, but the Queen is one of the classiest people on the face of the earth!)
i had my works christmas party last year on that night at the Windsor Hotel right next door to the Bell Center. I and a few co-workers missed the meal so we can watch the game at the St Hubert right next door, and it was well worth it. What game...Cammy's hat trick, Price's unbelieavable performance, the team playing as if it was their last game they`ll ever play..and of course the ceremony itself.. it was magical.
I was 5 months old when the Habs last won the cup, so this for me was the most impactful hockey moment in my life. Just a perfect night. The opening ceremonies were perfection and what's better than a 5-1 thrashing of our rival including a hat-trick from our most electrifying, most passionate player? I'll never forget that night. If you think about it, getting Cammy, Gomez, Gionta, This Game, the emergence of Josh Gorges, the amazing play-off run including Subban's coming out party... This was one hell of a season to be a Habs fan
