Now, I trust this player. I was VERY surprised to hear this about Z. I am NOT his fan. But it (so far) seems that Homer is on the right track w this signing. Based on all of that - I predict 30+50=80
Even so, he was known as a lazy player when he was with the Rags. Until he proves me otherwise, I'm not expecting much out of him. And I would absolutely love it if he proved me wrong.

If he plays like he's trying to prove something, which i'm sure he is since he's only signed for one year and would want to make more money, if he plays on the first line with richards, I see him scoring somewhere where 55-65 points and 25-30 goals

He knocks out gagne for the season in game 4 enroute to 38 goals 17 assists (cause he's a little selfish) Leino's the one im more interested in. MVP of the finnish league. That's the secret stash right there. I was just rewatchin some of the playoffs (cause im a psycho for the season to start) There's no way the playoffs were a fluke. He's the real deal and itd be nice to see people bust holland's balls a little more on that one.

He managed what? 58 as the only offensive weapon on the Rangers?

I'll guess anywhere from 55 (on the low side) to 75 (on the high side).

If you wanna see what Zherdev is all about, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=792aZmtD2GA

Very capable of a point per game on a team like Flyers.

I would say that after a bad training camp and a slow start he will net 25-35 goals and 60-70 points.

Heres hopeing....

It depends a lot on his role and his role depends considerably on his willingness to play defense and do boardwork. If he is a top six player for 70 games, OK, he scores 30/30. If he is a power play specialist who sees third-line duty mostly, 18/25. Is he Kovalev or Kotalik? We are not sure yet.

I'd like to see him given a chance to play his off wing and we don't have a lot of natural left wings so why not give it a shot?

Holland made the right move IMO, yes he was well-suited for Detroit in terms of style but in both Detroit and Grand Rapids he was lost and unmotivated. He needed a change of scenery and with only questionably transferable figures from Finland Holland was not going to get a huge return for him.

I agree with you though, I think he is a nice players. Good hands, creative, and he seems to have gotten over the star syndrome he had early on, he is actually a gutsy player now. His boardwork was a HUGE part of the success of that second line and he had several inspired shifts in the Boston and Montreal series.

My god, if that line happened no one on the opposing team would know where the puck is.

that gave me a good laugh thinking about it, no one on the ice would know where the puck is, including their own defenseman

I'm actually really excited to see Zherdev. If what they say is true about his motivation... My God.

Well, Zherdev put up 61 points in Columbus with no center man and 58 in New York with no center man. If he put up numbers like that while only playing 19 minutes one season and 16 the next, I can very easily see 75 to 80 points playing with Richards. I'm going to say that he's going to put up 78 points, 40 of those being goals.

I give him 20-25 goals and the same for assists. Could go above and beyond but I would be happy with 40-50 points out of him but could see him getting as high as PPG if he plays to full potential. Not likely but I could see it happening. I could also see him ending with 40 points and being a healthy scratch so its really a crap shoot if you ask me.

just FYI

nik zherdev is very inconsistent even from shift to shift. A typical shift for him in NY was, over the boards receives the pass, takes the pill deep, stops, gets a love tap from the defenseman and turns over the puck. Doesn't hustle to retrieve the puck, and is late getting back resulting in pressure on henrik lundqvist. Second shift, gets the feed from his center and skates like a madman carrying the pill across the blueline, looking to pass nothing develops so he puts a weak snap shot on net. Third shift, cherry picking on the blueline he gets a sweet lead pass and takes the puck into the zone, looking to pass he throws it across ice where it is thwacked by the D and results in a faceoff after the puck is pinned. Fourth shift, he is the 2nd forward over the boards and receives a nice back pass, putting his full weight into the shot he rips it but due to the rangers pathetic offense nobody is in front and the shot is easily handled by the goalie.

This guy is either a homerun or a strikeout. Don't expect any consistency from him and perhaps some time spent riding the pine this upcoming season.

He can easily pot 25 but you will feel like he could have had 35. Anything over 30 helpers will be garbage 2nd assists in which he touches the puck before dishing it off.

best of luck with him. He is usually fun to watch and is a fine skater. Maybe he really always needed a fine centerman to feed him the puck. Lord knows he never got that in Cbus or Gotham.

Color me pessimistic. I think he battles through injuries all year, and has trouble adjusting back to the NA style of play. I think he will end up in Laviolettes doghouse and spend a lot of time on the 3rd line. I am not banking on him scoring more than 35 points this coming season. I hope I am wrong.

I'm kind of with Shafer here. I see 55-75, barring injury. I think he should hit 55 pretty easily with his talent and the talent of our forwards, with big upside should everything click perfectly.

So basically, he looked inconsistent because he had no one to pass to or help out on offense. Shouldn't be a problem in Philly.
