2010-2011 Florida Panthers Prospect Poll #9

9. Garrett Wilson was added to this poll but was in a 3-way tie with Joonas Donskoi and Zachary Hyman. I am not doing a runoff to see who is the next prospect added, so I simply put in the player who was highest ranked on my personal list.

Interesting to note that 5 of the present top 8 prospects(as voted by the general public) are new to the system this year. Maybe a little recency bias but still demonstrates an influx of quality talent.

The final list will be comprised of the top 20 prospects followed by 3 honorable mentions. The nature of the poll is there are 10 prospects to select from and you can post who should be added to the next poll.

Used the following requirements for prospect qualification:
1) 25YO or under
2) Played in less than 50 NHL games in career
3) No more than 41 games in a single season.

FLA Prospect Rankings
1. Jacob Markstrom - G [84.78%] - Played for Brynas(SEL)
2. Erik Gudbranson - D [73.08%] - Played for Kingston(OHL)
3. Michael Grabner - RW [60.42%] - Played for Manitoba(AHL)
4. Nick Bjugstad - C [50.00%] - Played for Blane(USHS)
5. Colby Robak - D [33.33%] - Played for Brandon(WHL)
6. Michal Repik - RW [43.48%] - Played for Rochester(AHL)
7. Quinton Howden - LW [40.48%] - Played for Moose Jaw(WHL)
8. John McFarland - C [44.74%] - Played for Sudbury(OHL)

Torn between either Garrison or Dadonov. I've always thought that Dadonov was a nice sleeper we picked up, and he's a supremely talented hockey player, but of course we're dealing with 'The Russian Factor' here, as evidenced by his hissy fit.

And then there's Garrison, the less sexy yet more reliable NHL contributor.

Gotta go with Garrison. He's a sure thing to play this year, whereas Dadonov might eventually take his talents elsewhere.

I went with Dadonov. I really like our 2007 draft class except for our 1st rounder.

Torn between the three Dmen on the board right now. Went with Ellerby, his pedigree/ceiling potential slightly outweigh the other two at the moment. Add Jenks.

Petrovic, add Hyman.

I just see Garrison having a big impact in a few years, and with his age too.

Even though I voted for him, I do agree. I think he's pretty close to maxing out his potential, but at this point he's the most "sure-thing" we have on the list even though his upside may not be as high.

That's my thinking too. Ellerby should be atleast as good as Garrison when he hits Garrion's age, and chances are he will be better.

we dont know that for sure.. i only watched him play in one game on the tv so i didnt see his tendencies and style of play very much (he played like 3 minutes that game). What are his weaknesses? why didnt they give him more icetime?

He held his own pretty well in the NHL, didn't make a lot of mistakes. His weaknesses in the AHL have been mainly giveaways/turnovers, but IMO that's mainly due to him testing his limits to see what he can do in the pros with the puck. If he wanted to play it very safe he definitely could have no problem. He's still the most impressive Panthers d-man I've seen in Rochester(when he's playing well/not turning over puck).
