Value of Moller to Ottawa

Huge fan of this guy. what would it take for the Sens to land him?

His value by himself probably isn't that great at the moment. I'd prefer to have him packaged with something else for a top4 d-man or top6 winger than trade him for another prospect or draft pick.

Honestly, Moller just doesn't have a ton of trade value on his own. So unless he was part of a package for a Top 6 winger or Top 4 d-man, it's probably not the best fit at this time, and I don't know if Ottawa is looking to move any of that and we'd probably only be interested in Kuba or Phillips.

A more likely trade would be something like Moller for Brian Lee but I don't really even know about that unless Lee is ready to play in the NHL because if he's not, we don't need anymore defensive prospects in place of offensive talent in the minors. I haven't really followed Lee all that much so I could be wrong here but I don't think he's guaranteed to be an NHL player this season so even that doesn't make sense. We already have a lot of defenseman with potential that may not be ready for NHL duty yet.

As long as he's not added in a trade package, you'll probably see Lombardi hang on to him longer to see if he can overcome his frailty and become an NHL player. If not, you'll probably eventually see a 1-for-1 swap for another struggling prospect looking for a change of scenery.

Moller for anybody. Done deal. And I like Moller, I just don't think he fits the Kings at this point.

Yeah, Moller + for Phillips I'd do. Really round out the defense.

I doubt Ottawa even considers it though, unless the + is very enticing, at which point I doubt LA would do it.

Prospects have their lowest value now and highest at the trade deadline, so I assume DL will wait until then to trade Hickey and Moller.

I'd be content if we could get a solid bottom pairing defenseman for him.

Thanks for passing the info. I'm sure the Kings would be interested in Peter Regin should he become available. I think he has the potential to be a 20 goal scorer in the NHL.

How about Selke? I heard he's a great defensive forward.

Moller certainly does have the ability to be a top six forward, http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?hlp=8474114

I like his shoot-first mentality, something the Kings lack on the wings. While he is small in stature, you have to credit his heart and will. Moller simply doesn't shy away from contact.

Eventually, the wear and tear and the abuse his body takes will catch up to him, but if he can bulk up, at the very least improve on his lower body strength, I do believe he has the ability to be a capable sniper.

The value of Oscar Moller...isn't that what we have all asked for 3 seasons now?

I really hope the Kings do not trade Moller. We don't have a ton of prospects with top 6 potential. The guy has the best shot of any of our prospects, the most heart (almost to a fault), above average hockey IQ and is well liked in the locker room. He played through a broken collar bone in the WJC, loves the game and, as far as I know, has done everything the coaching staff has asked of him. You don't trade players like that, especially when the only argument for trading them is that he hasn't fully grown into his frame by 21 years old. The Kings have plenty of prospects with trade value, but I really think that trading Moller would be a mistake.

I always projected 2010 to be the year Oscar Moller legitimately earns a roster spot.

Instead of misplacing in the bottom six, why not give him a role he can succeed? There's a lot of offensive potential we haven't exploited yet. Obviously at this point it looks like he's top 6 or bust anyway. In training camp, put him with Kopitar and Smyth. Allow him to play the perimeter - positioning himself into scoring areas. He does have a pretty good shot after all.

I think I'm more curious to see what a Brown - Stoll - Williams line can do.

I like that idea. Moller is a bit of a tenacious forechecker and plays that similar style to Williams. He may mesh well playing with two bigger forwards, and Moller is also smart, he can work the cycle and get the puck to Smyth or Kopitar.

Only problem with Williams on a line with Stoll and Brown is that none of those three are creative, they are not playmakers, and they are all right handed. Would be ideal if they replaced Stoll with Schenn, who is more of a playmaker and a lefty.
