UFC againts piracy

"Ultimate Fighting Championship officials today announced they have subpoenaed Justin.tv and Ustream.tv two sites with user-provided live video content due to their broadcasts of illegally uploaded content, including the UFC's pay-per-view events.

Zuffa LLC, the UFC's parent company, has served both sites subpoenas that demand they reveal the identities of users who uploaded UFC content. "

I bet those kids who published PPV events on those sites are probably ******** in their pants right about now.

Doesn't bother me - I just get the AVI's from Megaupload/Rapidshare.

Try to buy the odd show, guys, or at least go see it at a pub or something. I stream the odd show too, but if you enjoy UFC and the fighters, they deserve some financial support.

I usually chip in at my friend's house where we order the HD feed on his 70 inch TV... If we don't do that, we hit up Buffalo Wild Wings or this one bar right around the corner from us...

But I still like to get a video in good quality for re-watching.

lol financial support. They get no where close to how much they deserve from the UFC. Majority of them are getting extremely underpaid, with a select few getting big paydays. Shane Carwin got like what, 40k his last fight? Thats retarded.

Saying all that, I try to go to bars as much as I can and try to order when I don't. However, last time I was streaming Carwin Lesnar card and all the streams died, half way. Like every single one, I had to watch the rest of the card in french, even though I don't understand it at all (which was refreshingly good.... **** mike goldberg). I thought this was imminent because of that happening though.

Getting the fights on network TV would increase ad revenue and viewership by ridiculous amounts.

Just saying, kinda sad that they rely on a PPV model.

That really is true. ONLY using PPV is simply not going to work, long-term.

Haven't they slowly been expanding with TUF, UFC fight night, and UFC on Versus, while putting on almost 2 PPV cards a month.

More people may be willing to buy PPV's or go to bars, if there wasn't so many of them, at nearly 2 a month, It's almost overkill.

I would happily send Dana White $5 to watch a PPV on my computer, but he wants $50. Therefore I go to a bar and pay $5 to watch the PPV.

Dunno why they're so pissed at piracy; it's huge for building the fan base. ****, Dana himself asked for a Pride FC stream back in the day on the Underground...

Dana does and has posted on the Underground for a long time. This request was before I joined, but a few old timers have called him out on it in the past.

Yup. What they are forgetting is the majority of streamers are watching the show by themself. A 50 dollar PPV isn't a big deal when you have 4+ people splitting the cost and hanging out. But it can be tough to arrange. And bars are good, but not always the ideal atmosphere.

If they want to stop this, stop charging $50 per event. Make it $50 for events with title fights, lower it to $30 for regular events. Guaranteed their sales would increase. Problem with piracy is just to follow the sport, it's just too ****ing expensive.

What is Veetle?

I go out and pay $10 to watch UFC at a bar. I don't have Showtime/Superchannel, so I also go out for Strikeforce since it's free.

I've never actually purchased a UFC event at my place, it's always at the sports bar.

It's like Justintv and Ustream except it doesn't have the annoying viewer limitations, pages aren't as heavy as on Justintv and the streams are better quality. Sopcast is almost as good. I tried watching the Lesnar-Garwin match before I went to bed but it hadn't started, it was on Sopcast and fairly decent quality.

Aren't a lot of Strikeforce events on Showtime? Premium Cable != Cable TV

Only Sopcast problem is it eats a lot of bandwidth. If you're in an area that limits bandwidth, you may be in trouble.
