i think we should all feel a little bad for frolov, not saying he deserves 5mil, but if my coach put me on the third line on my contract year... man i'd be pissed, if he was on the second line i'd seem him putting up 60-75pts and he'd be a little more likely to get 5 mil(but would end up with 4.5)
You are correct, putting up 60 points on the 3rd line the entire year is freakin amazing. Frolov should be on the top line on many teams. I think he could score a ppg for sure.

I hope you guys realize that the "third line" on LA had Handzus and Simmonds on there most of the year. Frolov did see ice time on the 2nd line with Stoll and Brown. So of those two pairs, look up the numbers and see how much different they are from one another. Frolov's numbers didn't take a dip due to his linemates. I wish people would stop making excuses for him.

i agree to a certain extent, but he didnt go from 32 goals to 19 because his game worsened or he lacked motivation all year....
there was obviously another variable that changed....

It's in his head. His shooting percentage took a huge dip from 18.2 to 10.4. Something was hampering him, but not sure if it was mental or physical. And those 32 goals he compiled was under the same coaching staff.
The Islanders? You know a player has to want to play there, too, right? Just because it makes sense for the Islanders doesn't mean he wants to play for them, in that arena.
We are all getting ahead of ourselves I think. This is an article in Russian where the agent for Frolov and Afinogenov answered some questions.
Frolov - He said that regarding Frolov, the player would prefer to stay in LA. He also said that the Rangers AND Kings are after him right now. So we need to consider the fact that he can easily stay in LA if they give him enough money. KHL - no serious negotiations on that front according to his agent.
My thoughts: For him to go to NY, I think the Rangers will have to beat LA's offer by at least a couple of million, and Im not sure if NYR can afford to do that or should do that. KHL seems like last resort.
Afinongenov - Agent says that he would also prefer to stay in NHL. Last year he took less money to stay in NHL, could have got more money to go to KHL. He will wait till August 10 before making a decision.
Thats all I got. My Russian is still ok, but not perfect. If anyone also reads in Russian and got something I missed, feel free to add. This article also made an attempt at some quick translations: http://www.beyondtheblueshirts.com/2...re-in-new-york

Right. His russian agent says that Fro ask him to stop all negotiations with KHL because in the last few days LA showed a big interest in him as well as NYR too

Pretty accurate translation, yes. Problem I have with this article is its not coming from Frolov or his agent. It is coming from the GM of SKA. So to me it is still hearsay. It could be that Frolov's agent said to the GM of SKA that Frolov will "likely" go to NYR, but nothing is sure yet...GM of SKA might have misunderstood or assumed stuff.
Someone else's twitter already said that the GM of SKA said Frolov will "likely" go to the Rangers.
Not sure how the Rangers work the cap hit out and they have to sign Staal.
Signing Frolov means they have to dump salary somewhere else. I'd assume if it's really true, then they have their ducks in a row on this, but I don't know what they have up their sleeves

you gotta worry about cap space right now, though. As I said, they have to sign Staal. Unless they get a bargain with Frolov, I don't think they have enough space to sign Staal and Frolov without making any other moves.
