imo he's worth 60 points but with the fact he's declined for the past 3 years I wouldn't pay more than 3.5 per for 3 or 4 years. Personally I feel avoid this altogether.

As for the actual deal itself, sort term 2-3 years at 4 mill would be good for secondary scoring. Having a 2nd line along the lines of Frolov - Anisimov - MZA is pretty impressive.

Next year's top line of: Frolov - Richards - Gaborik will be impressive
Yeah i just saw the retweet by Zipay, so must have some validity.

This has bad idea written all over it. He'd be in Torts' doghouse by November.

I'm a fan of him. The only problem is if they sign him how will they be getting younger? One less roster spot for a young guy.

I'd be down short term like 2 years at $2.5-3.2 million only if it means that Avery and Boyle are both off of the team making way for two of Weise/MZA/Grachev/Stepan.

Anyone who is worried about Fro's previous season performance should not be worried, he was dealing with divorce through out the year and Terry Murray hated him as shown that he was a 3rd liner this year for us(brfore he was our best goal scorer) Terry Murray would also scratch him for a few games when he should have really scratched randy jones and dustin brown for at least a game and justin williams, there were other players that needed to be benched besides Fro.

He may be back and forth in terms of purely goal scoring. However, he guarantees 50-55+ points season in and out.

I'm down to add some size and scoring to our top 6. I don't see how people could be against this signing. Look at the garbage we have on paper.

Next step is to get a legit top line center for Frolov and Gaborik.

Are the issues with his work rate true? I've never noticed him to be slacking in that area. Kid plays very physical, is reliable on the forecheck and in his own end, and has a massive skillset to go with it. Just doesn't seem like a player who's lacking in the effort department.

This is kinda like how the Mets are "more favorable" of Spanish players. Except the reverse seems to be true here, Torts is not so favorable with Russian players--I guess he believes the stereotype of the lazy Russians.

He does at times loaf around which is why we nicknamed him FroLoaf, but then again who would want to play for a coach that hates, he will bring a lot to your team he has excellent size and doesn't get pushed off the puck easily at all, he is the best player around the boards second to sidney crosby, he pretty much built a career with his wrap arounds, he is a puck possesion player, he will suprise you with a few snipes here and there, if he doesn't slack off and plays up to his potential he will be a regular 30 goal scorer and just might hit 40 with the right oppurtunities and line mates.

Makes me think of Jagr. Obviously not as good, but a similar type player.

I'm sold on the nickname alone.

I think the issue with Frolov is that he has the talent, its the determination to use it. In a way somewhat similar to Zherdev. Granted Frolov has a much better pedigree in the NHL that NZ does.

I also think that there were times down the stretch where Frolov was riding the pine but a quick search showed him as the #4 forward in ice time so perhaps the riding the pine wasn't true after all.

put it this way NY could do A LOT worse than sign Frolov. he is 28 years old, plays RW, is UFA. I think he can improve NY.

then again that improves the team and blocks another kid from the minors...

Would be ok with signing Frolov, at a reasonable price and term.

3 years, ~4.5M seem reasonable?

EDIT- 4.5M per season obviously.

Oh ya. Very similar to the way he protects the puck by the boards and behind the net. Very Jagr esque in that aspect.

My understanding was that Frolov was a LW. Can he play RW as well?

Frolov-Anisimov-MZA or Dubinsky-Anisimov-Frolov could be a solid 2nd line.

Frolov-top line centermen via trade- Gaborik

i.e.. Frolov-Savard Gaborik..........Frolov-Ribiero-Gaborik

that would be in a perfect world.......if they could sign staal and frolov for 7 million then deal a salary like Rozy or just waive Redden and get a C like Savard or Ribiero from 4-5 million I think it can fit
