I'm going to go by next years roster to make it quite interesting.
By best PKer, I mean best all-around penalty killer. Shot blocking, hitting, positional play, keeping the puck in the other end, everything that makes a good penalty killer.
Vote for who you think is the BEST Penalty Killer on the 2010-11 Pittsburgh Penguins.
He was my next choice but since he hasn't played a game as a Pen he doesn't count yet. ALthough I must say, psyched to have him in that capacity. We should have one of the best PK units in the NHL now.
Sounds like you made this poll just so you could vote for Michalek.
Mechanical's gonna be on your ***.
Well, without Michalek, Staal's only competition is Adams, who is good but not on Staal's level.
Having watched many Pheonix and many Penguins games, I still say Michalek will bring more to our PK than Staal does.
And thanks to Mech for the best/worst ideas

I thought about that, but figured it isn't really the same as the skaters. I'll add him in, though.
Edit: I can't add him, can a mod add him for me?
Staal gets the nod since we just haven't seen Michalek in this system. Staal is one of the top 5 PKers in the league regardless of how good Michalek is...so if we can have an elite PKing forward on the same pairing as an elite PKing defender we could be doing quite well this year.
And that says nothing of the likes of Adams, Cooke, and Martin.
Fleury would be a fair choice to though. I'd still vote Staal because Staal IS undeniably one of the top 5 in the game at it. Fleury is not undeniably one of the top 5 goaltenders in the NHL while his team is on the PK.
He was brutal last year, but at least in the regular season, he and the rest of the team were very good at killing penalties for the most part.
Non-goalie - I'd go with Staal. He's a little slow, but he's an offensive threat. He's also very smart defensively, is very good with angles and using his stick to take away passing lanes. I'd take him. He's not the fearless shot blocker that Adams is, but he does everything else better.
