Unfortunately if that was the plan, Dean would need to buy a map. No offense to you of course. Poni is from Ukraine.

Why do you keep bringing up Jones? He's not even an NHL level player. That's like being sad because we lost Piskula.

We have two defensive holes to fill. Whether he have, or don't have Jones, doesn't change that.

Kiev was in the Soviet Union then, which for all intents and purposes still gets listed as USSR or Russia when listing a persons DOB before the Soviet Union dissolved.

He's decent on the cycle but soft for his size.

im glad Fro is gone...he is Kovalev version 2.0....a frustrating player to watch

anyone that is angered at the loss of Frolov obviously only likes his name and assume that a cool Russian name like that must be good

this kid sucks cause he has no heart

welcome to LA Poni.

Thanks for the clear-up. The Kovy comment was a joke anyways.

I keep bringing up Jones because at one point this year he was a top 4 D man with us whether he sucked or not.

So we lost OD, Jones....2 top 6 D-man and one top 6 forward. Poni replaces Frolov as the forward but we still need at least one D...maybe one kid from Manchester steps in for the other spot, but no way 2 kids step in.

Fransson is not a kid, but Sutton would probably be okay if he doesn't want a long term deal. 2 years max.

Nonsense. It says "Ukraine" in my U.S. passport, and while yes, some players are listed as born in "USSR" (similar to how Czech or Slovak players may be listed as born in Czechoslovakia), unless someone is at least 100 or so y.o., it makes as much sense to say "Kiev, Russia" as it does to say "Los Angeles, Mexico."

I'm jealous. Don't pack any warm clothes, it's been hot as hell there all summer.

Now re-sign Modin for the 3rd line so you can have a 4th line with Parse-Richardson-Clifford/Westgarth.

I have a Ukrainian buddy. He hates almost all things Russian, and despises being identified as Russian.

I know, it doesn't make any sense. I wasn't trying to say it did or anything, but quite often I've seen that when referencing footballers or hockey players.

Anyway I think I'm dragging the thread way off topic.

Neither Jones or O'Donnell played at a high enough level to be considered top 6 dmen. They could be replaced by any scrub. It doesn't matter that they had size either, because they didn't use it.

Harrold, Martinez, Jones, Drewiske, O'Donnell. They're all equally bad.

And before someone comes in to defend OD; yes he was fine for most of last year. But during the last quarter of the season, and in the playoffs he was absolutely atrocious. Worse than Jones.

We still need 2 top 6 defenseman. Nothing has changed.
