How much confidence do the fans have in the team this year?

These were done throughout the course of the year last season, and now that our Off-Season is coming to an end (minus a few trades that Slats might have up his sleeve) let's see, at this point, how confident we all are that the Rangers will make the playoffs.

Assume the line-up looks something similar to this:

Frolov - Christensen - Gaborik
Dubinsky - Prospal - MZA
Anisimov - Drury - Callahan
Avery - Boyle - Prust
Boogaard, Byers

Staal - Rozsival
MDZ - Girardi
McD - Eminger/Gilroy
Gilroy/Eminger

Lundqvist
Biron

Feel free to factor in any sort of situation you see as likely. Frolov not working out, Gabby getting injured, MZA falling out, etc.

Anisimov will NOT play wing. Just to get that out of the way.

There are lots of variable in this lineup. How much will Anisimov, Dubinsky, and Del Zotto improve? How will MZA perform? How will McDonagh do? Will Avery go back to being his old self? Drury? Will Gaborik stay healthy?

Simply too many question marks headed into the season to make a real guess. Best case scenario, we finish 6th or 7th in the conference. Sounds a hell of a lot like the forecasts of the last 3 offseasons.

I'm pretty confident that we can make the playoffs. But its going to be tuff. Our division has to be the tuffest in the league, every team can play hockey now, even the Islanders. We just need to start off winning and end the season winning.

We did that last season. No playoffs.

It's less of a test to see where people will logically think we'll end up, but more of a test to see how confident the fans are that the year will go as anticipated.

We were cellar dwellers in the Eastern Conference until Frolov signed. Now I forsee another 9th place finish

Confidence level (on a scale of 1-10) is a 3.

Whos is to say Sather is done?

I'm still holding out for a legit top 2 line center and a veteran presence on the back end.

Lots of variables, innumberable permutations...all in all, I think we just make the play-offs with a 7 or 8th place finish. But it won't take much -- one longish injury, a couple of player melt-downs -- to derail everything.

Why would Anisimov play wing? He wouldn't is the answer.

It's not about this year, it's about the future. Pretty sure the Rangers brass has made that perfectly clear, and I'm not sure why people can't come to grips with it.

Trades? What trades? We aren't trading for a big contract like Savard or Richards. It's not happening.

Savard is making a little over 4 mill. How is that a big contract?

How exactly was the same exact team that missed the playoffs because of a shootout loss going to be a "cellar dweller" this year? The straight up negativity from a bunch of posters here is pretty sad.

Look at how long it runs. And the guy has injury problems.

Doesn't mean Sather won't go for a few small trades. He's repeatedly said that he's not done tinkering, and I'm sure Frolov wasn't his last and only "tinkering" move.

I guess, many teams wont trade there big guys for him becasue of that issue. So the only way boston gets a trade done is if its a player like Gilroy and a second.

With the lack of turnover, next years team would have been a playoff team this year.

with the rest of the division improving, I don't know.

I voted for option 2, but I suppose all three of those scenarios are realistic.

Anywhere from 6 to 11. A lot of it depends on injuries, growing pains from the rookies and 2nd year players, etc.

I like the signing of Frolov, it will make the Rangers more entertaining to watch at least. His puck possession game is great, and we've been missing that element since Jagr departed. I think it's safe to surmise that Rangers will be better offensively this year since Frolov provides us with a legitimate secondary scoring threat.

Not sure what else he could do.

Redden, Brashear, Boyle, Avery, none of them have trade value. He isn't going to trade the youth away.

I think this is the team to start the season.

Only move i can see him making is sending Redden to Hartford if McDonagh looks ready.

No one is ready to take Rozsival's spot if he were to be traded.

And contrary to a popular opinion on HFBoards, Dubinsky is not going to get traded.

We are not done yet and even when we are, my analysis stays the same. We will challenge for a playoff spot and our young guys will get a year better. Overall the team will be improved. Sather and his team did what I wanted. Stayed the course and stayed young. Oh yeah, I can't wait to watch MZA play. He is going to bring the Garden to it's feet. Kid has heart, skill, confidence and knows how to celebrate a goal!

I truly believe this team can finish between 4-8 if healthy

We have added scorers as well as speed and strength in MZA and Frolov.

Dubinsky AA and Cally I think have big years.

With henrik in net well be in every game

i dont think its farfetched to have a season like ottawa.

We had 11 OTL

Now that we have some secondary scoring, i much more confident. Instead of 9-11 im thinking 7-9
