We have added scorers as well as speed and strength in MZA and Frolov.

Dubinsky AA and Cally I think have big years.

With henrik in net well be in every game

i dont think its farfetched to have a season like ottawa.

We had 11 OTL
4th???? That would mean finishing 2nd in the division, which is just about impossible.

We have the chance to get 100 goals from 3 players.

Frolov, Dubinsky, Gaborik. However you cut it, if those 3 guys can produce 100 goals total, we are in a good position.

If Slats can bring in a 65-70 points center, this team is looking good.

40-30-30? 30 isn't a crazy estimation for Frolov, but thats really, really optimistic for Dubinsky.

Also I don't think theres anyway that we can get a 65-70 point center with out clearing some cap space and sending Dubi in that deal.

Considering last season's conference rankings, I am confident we will be in the 5-8 range..

I just don't see Buffalo/Boston/MTL repeating last year's success.

Negativity? Hardly my friend. Realism.

It's simple really. I've explained this many times talking with friends and on here, but when our team stays the same from the year before (save Aasen and now Frolov), and every team in the Atlantic improves, how do you expect to be competitve next season?

Signing Frolov and the probable (being optimistic here) demotion of Redden is a good start in the right direction. I'll continue to root for the team I love this season; however, I'm not holding my breath on contending or making the playoffs this season.

i am much more confident from the addition of frolov...i think we are a 7-9 team, but with the addition of a 1st line center like richards or savard, we'd be a 5-8 seed no doubt

I dunno... Seguin/Horton are nice additions (though Seguin might not start the year), but another year of Recchi? Sturm disappeared late in the season (did nothing in the playoffs), plus Thomas is a choke artist... don't forget Savard and Bergeron are both one concussion away from retirement. I don't hate Boston or anything, just don't see them repeating success.

Thomas being a choke artist doesn't mean much since Rask is the starter.

They've got an incredible amount of depth down the middle and some really good wingers. I'll be floored if Seguin doesn't make the team out of camp, either as a center or a winger (If they keep Savard.)

They're not the team to beat in the East but they're a very good team and I think a shoe in for the playoffs at the very least.

I agree with what you say BUT

I think we are overlooking a top line center on our team...DUBINSKY

we drafted him, hes matured as a ranger, and this is the year he performs if centering a line with Gabby/Frolov or Gabby/Prospal. Plus hes a tough kid and will protect gabby on the ice.

Not saying im against signing savard.. but if we dont get a top center, i think we have to give dubi the shot.

Only move i can see him making is sending Redden to Hartford if McDonagh looks ready.

No one is ready to take Rozsival's spot if he were to be traded.

And contrary to a popular opinion on HFBoards, Dubinsky is not going to get traded.
Agreed very much on the bolded, I'm not sure why anyone thinks Dubinsky is on Sather's list of tradeables, and I'm not sure why anyone would want him to be.

I see this being a lot like last year. Somewhere between 7th-10th. Since that wasn't choice, I went with 9th-11th. I would be absolutely shocked if they finished any higher than 6th.

Staal - Rozsival
MDZ - Girardi
McD - Eminger/Gilroy
Gilroy/Eminger

Lundqvist
Biron
I would rather see something like this

Dubinsky -Christensen - Gaborik

Frolov - Anisimov- Pospal
Just saying this out loud and only a thought Avery better step up his game or he may be outside looking in

Exactly how I feel. And if they could win some shootouts like in the first couple of years after the lockout, it's amazing how much higher you would be in the standings. Those were crucial points that they gave away last year.

I'm gonna guess 6-8. If everything falls in our favor, though, we could potentially do damage in the playoffs.

I think there's no doubt that Dubinsky will be tried with Gaborik again some time this year. He didn't clique with him too much last year, but Torts will try again, I bet.

And yeah, if Avery doesn't play like his old self, or preferably better, then he's in trouble. He plays about 10 games a year like a talented 2nd liner, and the rest a grinding 3rd/4th winger.

yes, i agree with you 100%...dubi has matured very much over the past year i think he deserves the top spot if we don't get a top line center, christensen should not have that 1st line spot

I thought we were going to make the playoffs before we signed Frolov so I'm pretty pleased. 6th seed.

I'm very high on Dubinsky.

But, you said 40-30-30, 40 for Gaborik is probably selling him short.

45-30-25? That's easily expect able.

50-25-25? Could happen.

42-30-28? Just as likely.

Any way you spin it, 100 goals from three players can easily happen here.

I have that sort of feeling too.

Well, we have Hank...

I think since Drury was 20 points below his average last year, I don't think it'll happen again with Torts giving him support. So his 50+ points will help a lot.

Plus the addition of Frolov, which I'm not a fan of, but it was a good deal for a potential 30 goal scorer (year/money)...

Dubinsky stays healthy, he'll pot around 60 points.

And Christensen will be playing a full season with Gaborik.

There's the positives... You know the negatives and what if.......

He's another reason why our prospects won't make the team this year.

I don't think he has any heart and moody. Declining in points since '07 doesn't look good, and he's only 28.
