Boris Valabik

Atlanta still needs to hit the floor and we need toughness on D. he is hte cheapest (salary) option out there. maybe gilroy and brashear for Valabik? would this work? atlanta would eat brasher's contract and gain a gilroy.

Is Atlanta in a position to eat 1.4 million of real money?

They might feel better off just nabbing a remaining FA (Kariya) just to hit the floor.

Where's the incentive for Atlanta?

At best, Gilroy for Valabik is a lateral move, and I'd say Valabik's game translates to the NHL better at this point. Plus, he's a monster, and if they could fine tune him, he'd be ONE HELL of a defenseman.

On top of that, they have to eat Brashear's contract? They're a small market team. Small market teams typically don't make this kind of deal.

The logic would be if they needed another contract to reach the salary floor. But they probably won't, which makes this deal, as you said, a bit nonsensical for them.

Can't see anyone trading a player with value for Brash.

id love to have valabik, he can be a monster on the defensive side, maybe we can trade gilroy and brian boyle for him or something alone those lines. give them some young guys that dont fit or have room in our system that will help fill out there team

Never gonna' happen. Certainly not in the manner proposed, here.

Can this Valabik play defense well?

And why would this team need Rypien?

What, because he pulled Valabik's jersey sleeve out and effectively lockedup Valabik's arm in his own sleeve, while clutching his other arm in deperation. Valabik knew he couldn't get any punches off, so he ducked out. as he should have.

And even with both of Valabik arms locked up, he barely landed any of those flailing punches. Prior to the lockup Rypien was struggling mightly to stay in close and avoid getting his head handed to him. He lucked out on that one.

He can be a monster on the defensive side, but the Thrashers are going to take our useless trash for him?

Right now, Gilroy is useless. He had a good 7 to 8 games, from game one to game seven or eight. Then, he was a major trainwreck. He has a lot to prove this upcoming camp and season. If he even makes the Rangers team or any NHL team.

I'm so sick of these salary cap floor trade proposals. No one is going to take Donald Brashear's contract to get to the floor, because he's not anywhere near worth his real money. They'd rather go sign someone in free agency for that money, or trade for someone that actually belongs in an NHL lineup.

more than a few teams will take on Brashears contract, all NYR have to do is offer a 3rd rounder. How does Brashear and a 3rd sound? or maybe even brashear, gilroy and 3rd for Valabik and 7th.

There's no sense in giving up Gilroy in any package deal that's just a salary dump.

There's also a lot of speculation that Brash is headed over seas. If that's the case, breach of contract, his cap hit is void. So why would we deal him and why would another team take him?

Exactly.

Some people just don't fully think about why another team would do the proposed deals that are posted on here.
