Dynamo/Dinamo

I think the stylicized "D" logo of Dynamo teams is outstanding.

To me it's a little like the Montreal Canadiens "CH".

It's artistically simple yet the "D" is effective because it is immediately recognizable and it manages to look historical and dignified, somehow.

A lot of teams seem to use it.

I know Moscow Dynamo and Dinamo Riga used the same "D" logo.

I even bought a cool dogtag with the logo for a soccer team(MOCKBA).

Does anyone know some of the history behind the design and how it became so popular?

Also, how expensive would any jerseys bearing the "D" be to purchase from Canada?

spasibo,

spasibo,
in 1920's Dynamo was invented from the Greek word (same meaning as in English) and that's how D is properly spelled in Cyrillic, so they chose this for their logo. The goal for Dynamo was to keep the police forces fit.

If you want the Dynamo Moscow jersey you can wait until the start of the season when the official khl site is opening(apparentl), or get it from their site, dynamo.ru

spasibo!
I'll do that.

By chance, do you have any idea if the KHL website(opening this Sept.) might be selling the jerseys at a lower price than the Dynamo team site?
