Toronto replacing Montreal at the Winter Classic 2011 vs Calgary??

Hey guys,

I don't know if that has been discussed but I was reading an article on RDS.ca and they wrote : "There will also another away game this season. The Maple Leafs will face the Calgary Flames on February 20 in Calgary at the first outdoor game in Canada since the 2003 between the Montreal Canadiens and Edmonton Oilers "

Source : http://www.rds.ca/hockey/chroniques/303306.html

Is it legit or another RDS dumb mistake??

I was looking at the schedule two days ago and the Habs were still there...

RDS is know to make dumb mistakes like this.

Cyberpresse.ca did the same "mistake", but as I'm writing, they seem to have corrected it.

As a Leaf fan, I hope they are never involved in any outdoor games.

You'd figure since they're the station that covers the Canadiens, somebody would pick up on a mistake like that. Good ol' RDS...

May I ask you why? We already played outside, your turn will come within 2-3 years.

I thought for sure the Leafs would get this game but the NHL has snubbed them again, shows them what they think of their "flagship" franchise, and the power of the Habs brand.

Love the theory, hate the execution. Yet to enjoy one of them. Heck the hilight from the bunch so far was Shaun Majumder sneaking into the original photo with all the players and listening to them whine like babies about it afterwards (hello Photoshop).

Beyond that, the Leafs don't need gimmicks to sell.

Any idea if the outdoor game is going to happen? They said at the time the schedule was released that the game would require approval from the competition committee. When are they going to meet?

In regards to the long term, I wonder how feasable it would be to hold a game at the O?

Right you are. Toronto can be the losingest team in the league and will continue to be far and away the league's most profitable team.

I'm sure that as a Leaf fan, you also don't mind about not winning the Cup, and you don't really care about 2nd overall draft picks.

If you are going to insult someone you could at least try to be topical. Might actually provide some humour as opposed to a "duuhhhh...OK" moment.

Where most casual fans can't afford to go watch a game.

Go LEAFS!

Probably sell out if it was against a good team, but you couldn't see the puck from half of the seats.

That's not how it works in the media. When it's a pickup, they don't usually check the info, because they have trust in the media outsourcing outlets, in this case AP. They probably got a call about the mistake and they corrected it. And it's not just in Montreal. That's how it works elsewhere. the same AP story ran through the US (I saw it) and they never corrected the mistake.

When will the Leafs be good again? Or at least decent? Because this rivalry is dying.

Although may not be awesome but they seem to have some decent prospects compared to ours (not including Subban assuming he graduated to the bigs).
