LTIR exemption is how Lou got Mogilny "off the cap" for the 06-07 season on a over 35 deal.

They might take Fraser or even Salvador for us, but there's no chance the Coyotes want Rolston. Not with their ownership uncertainty.

I think the Islanders might take him, but we would have to take Brendan Witt and bury him in return. I would do it.

well Fraser can hack it simply put, and Lou probably didnt want to risk losing him if he couldnt reserve a spot, and atleast now he can get something for him.

Yes I'm aware of that, the problem is with LTIR you have to first prove there's an injury that would qualify the player for it, and even if you do it's not the automatic cap relief everyone thinks it is. It still counts against the cap but you can go over by that amount. Considering how everyone is hell bent on having cap room at the deadline to improve what may need improving as the season goes on, LTIR would not be a good idea.

My first porno was one from the 80's. It had Tracey Adams and Peter North in it.

So would I. I'd even throw in a low pick if they needed a sweetener.

As was mentioned earlier, yep.

I can see Fraser's side of the issue, and I can see the Devils. I don't blame Fraser for seeing how the defense is shaping up and seeing that he might not be in the plans this year and wanting to make as much as he can if he has to be sent down. If that means the end of his tenure as a Devil, so be it. I would've felt the same way.

On the Devils side, I wouldn't necessarily be jumping to pay a guy 500k to play in the AHL, even though they're already doing that this year with Rob Davison, but Davison is a guy with more experience who can at least be a leader down in Albany.

So it's kinda no surprise the sticking point was a 1 way deal.
Yeah, I thought there might be a distinction between where a player was assigned to start the year vs. being sent down when cut during camp. I should have remembered from last training camp that we were using waiver eligibility over camp performance to determine who would make the final cut.

Fraser+Rolston+1st rounder for a 3rd rounder, a healthy scratch level center and a case of Molson

Anyone against this deal?

I didn't anticipate him getting sent down too often. He played 61 games last season, with a bunch of scratches and 0 games in the AHL. Hopefully he's ready to step it up for a full season.

Volchenkov, Tallinder, Greene, White. Pretty much locked in there. Now you have Fraser as the 6-7 man. That leaves two spots. Salvador will probably get traded. Corrente has to make the club this year. Nothing left in the AHL for him. If he doesn't make the team or if there's no room, you have to deal him. I have a feeling that Urbom is making the team. Don't know about Salmella. Can he be sent down?

I think we'll end up with 8 defensemen no matter what happens.

Volchenkov, Greene, Tallinder, White

Salmela, Fraser, Corrente, Urbom

Corrente, Eckford, Urbom, Fraser....competition is a good thing. Let them make the decision for you come camp. No need to "set" rosters in July.

And you'll need at least eight over the course of a long regular season.

If it's Molson Canadian I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Anyone can be sent down, but Salmella would have to be waived first which is probably what you meant. Still, I don't think losing Salmella or Fraser on waivers would be crippling to this team.

Like Trottier said, the competition for the couple of D spots that will be left is a very good thing.

Volchenkov-Greene
Tallinder-White
Corrente-Fraser.

Not great, but better than last year IMO. The top 6 is solid.

We still need a legit puck mover. But overall that's pretty good.

It's better. Volchenkov + Tallinder > Martin alone

Depends on what you need it to do. And it depends entirely on how good Corrente and the other kids are. I doubt very much Fraser sees consistent time in the top-6.

Losing Martin hurts, but we went most of last year without him and he wasn't himself in the playoffs. Plus he did look off-kilter for much of the beginning of the season. He's still by far the best defenseman of the bunch, but Volchenkov is a very nice addition and Tallinder is the most solid filler we've had since Albelin retired.
