Voted Dadonov so Clint doesn't go after me

Actually, I'm shocked Evgeny still hasn't made the list yet - I think I voted for him for #3 or something. Shifted to others because - frankly - none of this really means anything. But he really should have been ranked higher. Has a decently high projected upside (doesn't he have 2nd line scoring potential?), is closer to fulfilling it by virtue of having actually played in the NHL now and in just his first North American pro season. We're more used to him and he didn't blow us all away so I guess the sheen's off in terms of the "exciting prospect" tag, but objectively he should be highly ranked.

Still pushing for Plante to be added.

I love Dadonov and would have been voting him for a while now, but I'm not because I think he's going back to Russia. I know that shouldn't affect my vote, but it is. The whole "if I'm not in the NHL, I'm gone" thing really soured me, but I loved what I saw from him in his short stint in the NHL, both with and without the puck, he surprised me for a young kid.

Dadonov, obviously. Regardless of his antics, he's still the best prospect we have that's not yet on this list. Petrovic still has much to prove while Dadonov is proving.

Gudbranson has much to prove, no? Bjugstad, Howden? It's a prospect list Clint, there are assumptions to be made...

I agree with Clint here. People seem to be very high on the new guys because they still have these high ceilings and we can project the heck out of them. In reality, if Howden ever gets to Dandanov's level....we would be more then satisfied. Dandanov, Ellerby, and Garrison, should all be ahead of Petrovic, McFarland, and Howden (and I have been saying this since like Poll #5.

The sure fire kids like Gubranson who the team basically needs to be counted on are obviously going to be high, but the other 2010 kids are still big ????

Of course they do. But right now the fact that they have such high future ceilings, coupled with their higher level of present talent makes them more of a sure thing than the guys down below. Even if they don't reach their peak potential, they're still closer to being NHL regulars than the guys I have lower on my list.

Yeah, we should be really happy with another talent not making our weak team. We drafted alot of talented guys this draft, and the players we have drafted earlier haven't developed like we hoped. I really liked what Dandanov brought at the end of last season, but I don't see him on the same talent level as the guys we drafted. Everyone has been in the top 40 in their draft, Dandanov was around 80. Not saying you or I should base our arguments on that, but it kind of show you were they were predicted in their class. But Dandanov has done good for a third rounder, but he doesnt have the same upside as the other guys.

was close for me but i went with...

mccardle, add timmons

i don't see how mccardle, who will graduate regardless of whether he's qualified again next year, doesn't show up on the list to this point. the kid's pretty much proven that he play a role (at the least) and play it well at the nhl level. the same cannot be said for dadonov. very much in the same bucket as a garrison, imo.

I very nearly feel like a hypocrite, since I'm about to use the same line of reasoning used against me in the McFarland debates.

Anyway, McArdle is far more a sure thing for the Panthers than Dadonov. But only on the bottom two lines. Think a Greg Campbell type. I feel that that Dadonov's upside outweighs McArdle's certainty in this case, as Dadonov seems to be right behind McArdle in the certainty of making an impact in the NHL.

Think of it as a sliding scale of upside/certainty for prospects.

Ironic because Dandanov is still projected as a 2nd liner, and has developed amazingly well considering he was picked 80th as you noted. On the flip side, Howden has been projected even on draft day as "an excellent third liner." Dandanov is older, has improved since draft day, and is projected to become the better player.

On defense, Garrison is already an NHLer; Ellerby looks fine out there but DB just doesn't seem to trust him; and Petrovic was just drafted. Whats his ceiling? A top 4 dman? Ellerby and Garrison aren't far from being there already.

The only one who you can argue for is McFarland, and then its the BOOM or BUST scenario
