Rochester NY/Toronto CA Ice Hockey

I am heading to Rochester NY and Toronto for a few days of vacation in each place over the next few weeks.

Assuming (and that is a big if) the wife lets me bring my equipment, I would be looking to get in a skate or two, like at an open hockey session one evening in each town.

Are there rinks any of you locals in those cities would recommend, and at what night/times?

I am an adult beginner, so an open hockey that doesn't have too many superstars would be preferable.

I was going to take a crack at you over the bolded part but instead I will try and be constructive.

Surely your wife has some things that she wants to do on your vacation that doesn't get your blood pumping. Give her what she wants: shopping, spa, sightseeing, whatever in exchange for you getting to bring your gear and go for a couple of skates.

Negotiate that **** with her instead of begging for it.

What part of Toronto will you be staying in? There is pretty much a rink on every corner, just depends on the area,

Check out www.hockeytoronto.com

Another question is where are you vacationing in Rochester...I thought i was the only crazy one to do that (only because my In-laws live there)

Depend s on where you are staying though as to where to play

For the Toronto area and for beginners or Low-Mid

Pavillion Arena - fnhockey.ca - Fridays at 10pm or so - run by Mike

Rinx or Canlan York (two locations)- adulthockeyclub.com - various days and time as well as levels - registration required - so make an account ahead of time if you want to sign up - run by Claude

Etobicoke Canlan - westendshinny.ca - Fridays only - run by Lilie

Check out the sites for more information. I haven't played at the westendshinny yet, but as for the other two, good group of gals/guys and different skill/age ranges.
