"Rusty in Philly"

Quote:
On Fedotenko and the Flyers...

I am hearing a familiar name mentioned around Flyers land today, and it is that of Ruslan Fedotenko. Rusty (his nickname) was a very popular player around these parts, and has been a Flyers killer since his departure. But also, he is Ukrainian...and you know who else is Ukrainian? Zherdev.

I am not saying the two are pals, (far from it) but what I am saying had been the biggest knock on Zherdev was his unwillingness to assimilate into North American culture in any way whatsoever. I have talked to many of his previous teammates who tried to bridge the gap and left more and more frustrated with Zherdev.

In Fedotenko the Flyers could get a very serviceable player who speaks Zherdev's language and could help him with the media and adjustments. Fedotenko has drawn interest from several other NHL teams and has at least one KHL suitor (but prefers to stay in North America, as he has lived in the U.S. since 1999 and his wife is American).

The Flyers would have to make some cap space, so it could be time to see if the LA Kings or Maple Leafs are still high on Dan Carcillo...

Meh. No thanks IMO.

If we can get rid of Boucher Walker and Cote, then I would be alright with it, consider he can still play and be serviceable. Obviously doesnt bring Gagne's all-around game, but its still something. And we could probably get him pretty cheap right now.

And I still have hope we sign Turco

He is a play-off guy, so I kind of like that. And he is a decent sized guy too. There's worse guys to sign.

yeah dont want to take playing time away from Shelly and Nodl.
Now if Fedotenko could throw em and was physical and tough. that would be a differant story. who cares if he can score some goals.
I would take Fedotenko over Shelley and Nodl combined. Not that I think Fedotenko is great or anything but Shelley sucks and Nodl hasnt shown me anything in the NHL.
BFD he can hit a guy every now and then. we have 13 guys who can hit.

oh and he has 2 Cup rings as well. People still mad of what he did in the 2004 ECF? get over it.

I thought he was the man when I was a kid and he played here. He would bring the foul stench of Pittsburgh with him though... Didn't he kind of fall out of favor there last year as well?

26 goals the last 2 seasons playing almost always with either Crosby or Malkin. The only time he wasnt playing with them was when he was sucking so bad they pulled him from the line. If you can score with those guys you arent chipping in on a 3rd line here. we get it, you dont like Shelley but lets be serious, these guys do not have a similar role on a team. And Nodl? Where is that even coming from, hes not even on the team unless we see multiple injuries.

I'd rather have Shelley in a 4th line role splitting time with Powe.

And then leave Richards get blasted by Orr over and over again? Nahhh he would probably replace Carcillo which is not something I would want.

Fedotenko's had six post-seasons where he's either gone pointless, or failed to score more than a single point. He's been completely blanked three times.

Shelly and Richards are going to be on the same line? And it doesnt matter cause Orr isnt going to be afraid of Shelly or Carcillo, I can tell you that. So even with or without Shelly or Carcillo our star players will always be targeted

He doesn't need to be afraid. He just needs to be more focused on fighting Shelley than hitting Kimmo.

Man he really fell off the face of the earth at the end in pittsburgh.

He is one of those guys that consistently frustrate you because of a refusal to ever lay the body.

He has seen better days. If it really would help zherdev, maybe 1 year at 800k? Shelley's spot in the playoffs? But then again I love Shelley and he is twice the player Ruslan is.

When Orr is thrown out there against Richards for a quick shift, he isnt going to be thinking about fighting Shelly. He is sent out there for a reason.
