He's obviously asking too much.
He's not THAT good anymore.
Frankly, he's only a slight upgrade to leighton, IMO.

I'm not sure about 10x better, but it definitely has more potential for not sucking, I'd say about 3x better, worth the price if we can fit him in (for less than his award obviously).

Maybe SJ, Washington, maybe NYI depending on DP status, Flyers do not need goalie, obviously.

If he wants the $, he will go to bottom feeder who wants a long term goalie. If he wants to win he takes a 1 or 2 year deal with a contender, then plays the market.

There is only about a million in difference between his award and what Turco signed for. I wonder how much he is willing to come off that figure considering it cost him a chance to stay put. He could end up in Europe. Tough decision for any team to make bringing him in at 2.75 with a limited workload.

Flyers could waive Walker, still have 7 d-men on the roster, and have plenty of room to sign Niemi in the 2-3 mil range.

The sad thing is that the Flyers are totally content with Walker and Shelley in front of Leighton/Boosh.

I'm not crazy about Niemi but he's better than Leighton. It seems he may be in a position to be signed for even less than Turco, now that he has even less options than Turco had. Would be very pleased if we could get this guy in here on a 1 year deal

it's official, Chicago walk away from Niewi, sign Turco.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=329318

Where could Niemi land? Philly contender or not? Washington? I doubt it, they will try Varlamov and Neuvirth. SJ? If so, Why do they sign Niitymaki? Ottawa? Why not, Elliott is not a starter and Leclaire is the ghost of himself. NY Isles? Why? They sign their "superstar" DiPietro for 10 and more year, so i doubt they will give up on him so quickly, Edmonton? Why not. So for me the contender are the Oilers, the Sens, and Philly.

If that were true, then he would have been signed. I mean...the writing's on the wall: sign with Chicago or face "even less options than Turco had". If he was willing to come down, he would have done so in Chicago.

Send Matt Walker and Boucher to minors. Sign Niemi for 2 years at 2.75 per. Let Leighton and Niemi BATTLE.

Low risk/high reward!

However, instead we rock Boucher and Leighton like a bunch of idiots.

isn't it only a matter of cap space? If he didn't asked so much, Niemi would have been signed at july 1 by the Hawks.

Holmgren offered Turco $2M. He declined. End of story.

Turco turned Philly down. What do you want Homer to force him here?
