I agree that Bieksa would benefit a great deal by playing next to Markov. Look what it did for Komi quinolone God aweful now. Add to that the need to replace Hamrlk next year and it would be far less costly to trade and sign Bieksa than to go after a UFA.

This year:
Markov Bieksa
Hamr Subban
Gill Gorges

Next year (assuming no off season signings):
Markov Bieksa
Gorges Subban
Yemelin Webber

So what did you do with Spacek and his contract for next season? I assume you dealt him for Bieksa? I doubt the Canucks would do that though...

Cant imagine he will be back before the new year. Markov tore his acl 2 months before and is just about to come back.

Reports are saying he is getting better faster than expected, but we still haven't been given a real time frame.

Of course you'd want to see your team get Burrows, so would everybody else

I sure hope that's not our pairings next year!

The only way I can see that deal happening is if they have a deal lined up for Spacek, no way the Habs move Hamrlik, that would be a sideways move at best, Hamrlik is a very good 2nd pair guy when not overused. He's helped the PP and helpred reduce the shots on goal the last few games.

For all the Kevin Bieksa trade rumours, has anybody realized that he has a whopping 0 points in 9 games this season? And that's a so-called offensive defenseman, who's supposedly not too bright in his own zone.

Price is currently outscoring him

Since when has Bieksa been considered an offensive defenseman?

People around here need to watch more hockey before making these kinds of comments...

I would still take him before Spacek.

*Sigh*

It should add value to defensemen Alexander Edler, Christian Ehrhoff and Sami Salo as they are the Canucks offensive rearguards at this time. (Source: Vancouver Sun)

And the Blue Jackets are in dire need of an offensive defenseman. Bieksa played his college hockey in Ohio, at Bowling Green. He has 12-15 goal capabilities and 45-plus point potential (Source: Columbus Dispatch)

And Bieksa also offers offensive ability, including puck movement, the team needs for its up-tempo offense. (Yahoo Sports)

125 points in 240 games played, with a career rating of -20.

I'd be surprised if Ryan O'Byrne ever plays a game with the Habs again...

Me too.. Picard as taken over OB's place on the Habs .. It doesn't make sense having both OB and Picard sitting in the pressbox so one as to go very soon and I think OB will be the odd man out..

I hope PG can at least get a pick for him instead of waiving him and losing him for nothing..

Dwayne Klessel doesn't make sense, we don't even need Bieksa and his ridiculous salary. We have good defensive depth. And a tight salary cap situation.

Nothing ever makes sense. We don't need Canucks defensemen.

with Obyrne slipping to Picard , and Weber out playing Carle, i would try to package Carle+O'byrne for a better younger D

send them both to a team that lack depth at D like Anaheim or Colorado for a better younger prospect.

You haven't been on the Canuck's board lately have you? The impression Nucks fan give about Bieska is that he's absolute garbage, and they make our trash talk about Spaceksee like nothing in comparison. Which gets me worried a bit!

and on top of that, for some reason i cant wait to see Brendan Nash in a MTL uniform. I think this guy has more upside than all of these guys.

I think Mac Bennet might end up being a steal. Like Tinordi, he comes from a hockey family.

Carle was on waiver and nobody wanted him.

He's not exactly in demand like that.
