If he is bought out and would be willing to sign for about 500k i think pitt should take a look at him as a 6th or 7th d man depending on Ben Lovejoys start

Caps should claim him, for old time's sake.

He's only about 50% of the player he used to be.

Which makes him a half-Witt!

so could the isles not have a deal in place but are doing what they should do and throw him on waivers first just to see by some miracle if someone takes him?

He will get a try-out somewhere and could collect near minimum to be a 7th d-man somewhere with a team that needs a bit more aggresiveness and doesn't have much cap flexability.

Um, why? Sarich is still a pretty damn good NHL defenseman. His pairing was +17 combined over the last 24 games of last season (when he returned from injury). So you want to dump a solid NHL player for a washed up now AHLer in order to save 1.1 million? Seriously.

not only no but every loving ******* no. He chose to leave to be "closer to home" (fla) only to sign up in NYI. He did not leave on good terms and frankly, why would the CAPS want an old and slow dman who would have less chance at keeping up with the CAPS than he does the Isles?

I remember being a little disappointed that we got Mitchell instead of Witt.

Good thing I'm not the GM.

So much for Souray to the Islanders as a veteran defenseman. Wisniewski is a real nice pickup at a reasonable salary. Nicely done by Snow.

Caps say, "no" and "F#$@ NO".

Guy held out his first year, complained every step of the way and left on bad terms.

Never wished the guy ill, but really. F no.

Look on the bright side: if you didn't have Witt, you never would have gotten Varlamov.

Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't it impossible to buy him out right now?

I mean: the buy-out window is closed and as Moulson's contract was not result of an arbitration, the Isles don't have an extra buy-out window.

its funny. witt is the only player that left the caps during this current rebuild that the caps wanted to stay. he said he wanted to win and couldnt wait for the capitals. so he picked the islanders.

had he stayed he is the kind of player that the caps defense has lacked. both his style and his experience. it probably wouldnt have mattered as his legs have let him down, but its still a shame for both parties

No need to worry about the isles and the cap floor with Moulson's 2.45 and Wisniewski 3.25....

Witts buy out will be on the books anyway

Plus with all the Dmen in The Isles system Snow could be dealing off for another prize...
