Solid signing. Decent second pairing guy; puck mover with an edge to his game. I've been a fan of his since his Plymouth days.

You mean solid trade, right?

In any case, the Isles DEFINITELY just added some payroll. No coincidence this takes place on a day where Witt is waived.

This tidbit is interesting though:
<<<
Wisniewski, 26, finished second among Ducks defensemen in scoring and seventh on the team with a career-high 30 points (three goals, 27 assists) in 69 games last season. The Canton, Michigan native also led Anaheim in blocked shots with 102, ranked second on the team with 129 hits and finished fourth among skaters in average ice time at 24:20.
<<<

Considering we had lost pretty much all of our blueline hitting element with the departure of Meyer and Sutton, and our best shotblocker in Sutton, this looks like a move that'll directly address these areas.

In addition, he's a righty shot. Don't know too much about this kid, but I'd have to think the thought is that he'll be given a good shot at playing on the PP.

He might also be able to give Streit a few breaks along the way in the ice-time department.

At the moment, I definitely like the look of this move.

I'm sure Gervais, Reese and Kohn don't.

Streit - MacDonald
Wisniewski - Eaton
Hillen - Martinek

A little bit better.

little on the small side at 5'11, guess he plays a lot bigger than he really is.

Love this trade..Snow fleeced anaheim here, I know they just signed Fowler to a ELC but still not sure why they would trade away Wisniewski..

Streit
Wisniewski
Eaton
Martinek
Jurcina
Hillen/MacDonald

Gervais.....I don't mind Bruno being bumped out, but Hillen and AMac took strides and both looked to def. be in the starting 6 this season, now one of them gets regulated to a 7th D, but at this stage in their developments I am not sure either one of them should be a 7th D...You think someone may be on the move?? Maybe Martinek or Gervais?

Contract, far as I know is, for one year. Which is a good thing, IMO. I would not want to commit long-term to him at $3.25 mil per, until I see what he does on Long Island.

Played very well originally upon arrival in Anaheim, then not so much. Good mobility, and not a wimp. At 26 just entering his prime. You can get by with Eaton and Wiz as a second pairing. Top end talent on the backline is still lacking.

Timing of Witt waiver move now makes total sense.

Milan Jurcina should not be getting ice time over MacDonald or Hillen.

I don't think anyone is getting traded. As we've seen the past few years, you can never have too many defensemen.

Gotta believe this the prelude to another trade of some sort.

No fret, I'd be SHOCKED if any of Martinek, Jurcina or Gervais plays more than MacDonald this upcoming season, unless he's stricken by injury.

When was the contract signed? After the trade or before?

I agree, he prob shouldnt but he just signed here for 1 million, I just don't see him coming here to play every now and then, I think the islanders told him he would play in the top 6...I think someone, either Martinek or Gervais could be sent packing

He was a -5 this season, but a +9 (3-21-24) and +12 (7-19-26) the seasons before.

Could really be a nice little #3/4 Dman.

So he was available because Anaheim didn't want to pay him $3M+? But, they go out and give Lydman 3 years at $3M per? Seems weird.

Anyway, I like the move!
