Alright here goes. Might make a couple changes before Saturday.

MAIN CARD
Anderson Silva (c) vs. Chael Sonnen. Sonnen can't finish fights, and there's no way he lasts 25 minutes in the ring with Silva. He's going to get choked out Travis Lutter style.

Thiago Alves vs. Jon Fitch . Tough fight. I think Fitch will grind out a win over a ring-rusted Alves. I could see Alves winning a decision though too, I'm going back and forth on this one.

Rafael dos Anjos vs. Clay Guida. Guida's been suspectible to subs, this one will be no different.

Ricardo Almeida vs. Matt Hughes. Not a huge Almeida fan, but I think he's just the better athlete at this point and he'll sub out Hughes in the second round.

Junior Dos Santos vs. Roy Nelson. Another tough fight.

Dustin Hazelett vs. Rick Story. Another sub in a night of them. I'm not as sold on Story as most.

Phil Davis vs. Rodney Wallace. Tougher fight than most people think for Davis, at least in terms of how long it will go. Similar to his fight with Stann.

Tim Boetsch vs. Todd Brown. Ugh. Not a fight that interests me at all.

Charlie Brenneman vs. Johny Hendricks. If people are looking to slip in an upset pick, this might be the spot. Hendricks KO on Amir has kind of overhyped him IMO.

Christian Morecraft vs. Stefan Struve. Big step up for Morecraft, and the more I think about it the more I like Struve in it. He needs to keep his range from Morecraft standing, and once the fight goes to the ground Struve will lock it up pretty early. Sub, Round 1.

Dennis Hallman vs. Ben Saunders. Like Saunders to overpower Hallman. Saunders is a little too stiff to beat the top-end guys right now, but guys like Hallman he should be able to control. I don't know if he finishes him but it wouldn't surprise me.

I just switched back to Boetsch on that fight. I think that's the 2nd hardest fight for me to pick...

Struve's striking is pretty sloppy, I have to think he'd be better off going to a camp like Golden Glory where he could work with guys like Schilt, Overeem and some of the other good kickboxers there. Schilt in particular you'd think he could learn a lot from given that they're the same height. But I'm guessing there's some loyalty to Bob Schrijber's camp that prevents that.

Anyways, picks:

Anderson Silva (c) vs. Chael Sonnen (sub) -- Sonnen should be able to take Silva down pretty easily but Silva is going to make it very uncomfortable for him once it gets there. I think he'll get a sub after softening Sonnen up with some elbows from the bottom.
Thiago Alves vs. Jon Fitch (decision) -- another Fitch special as I don't think Alves coming off a year's layoff will be able to stop the takedowns.
Rafael dos Anjos vs. Clay Guida (decision) -- dos Anjos is tricky off his back but I think Guida's sub defense is good enough to avoid getting caught.
Ricardo Almeida vs. Matt Hughes (sub) -- REVENGE FOR RENZO
Junior Dos Santos vs. Roy Nelson (sub) -- going for the upset here. I don't think JdS can keep knocking out guys forever and we really haven't seen his ground game tested yet. Gonzaga got him down once but didn't stay on him -- I think Big Country might be successful.

Dustin Hazelett vs. Rick Story (sub) -- tough one to call with Hazelett coming off a pretty brutal injury. But I think you still have to like him to find an armbar or something.
Phil Davis vs. Rodney Wallace (sub) -- Wallace has one of the best nicknames ever but this is a pretty rough fight for a guy who's already 0-2 in the UFC.
Tim Boetsch vs. Todd Brown (TKO)
Charlie Brenneman vs. Johny Hendricks (dec)
Christian Morecraft vs. Stefan Struve (sub)
Dennis Hallman vs. Ben Saunders (KO)

That quote with Sonnen and the public office was hilarious. Good press conference all around, pretty funny stuff.

Alves was definately having fun there. I don't think he'll get past Fitch, but you could tell at the press conference and on the Countdown show that he's really happy to be back in the UFC doing what he loves after having his health scare.

Hopefully he'll prove me wrong and pull off a win this weekend, big fan of his.

If we're using the point system then my pick is Silva simply because I can't risk losing 5 points on it. Gotta be smart.

Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen (Sonnen has the best style to beat Anderson IMO. Henderson used it for a round and then completely gassed. Sonnen has no illusions of being a great striker, he's never been TKO'd, he's one of the best wrestlers in MMA, and he has plenty in the gas tank. I've thoroughly enjoyed all the pre-fight hype, and I despise Silva, so here's to hoping for the upset.)
Thiago Alves vs. Jon Fitch (Very tough one to call. Honestly if Alves had a tune-up fight prior to this I would've picked him, but I think the layoff will play a factor and Fitch will grind out a decision. Definitely would not be shocked to see Fitch caught though.)
Rafael dos Anjos vs. Clay Guida (Guida has 3 losses by RNC, and dos Anjos has 3 wins by RNC, thus, dos Anjos by RNC. )
Ricardo Almeida vs. Matt Hughes (Hughes did an interview a little while back talking about how his priorities have changed, and how leading up to a fight all he used to think about was dominating his opponent, and now he's focused on family, kids, etc. Kiss of death. He's done.)
Junior dos Santos vs. Roy Nelson (I didn't think Big Country had much of a chance before today, but after seeing these two guys next to each other at the press conference those chances went from slim to none in my book. JDS TKO Round 1.)

Dustin Hazelett vs. Rick Story
Phil Davis vs. Rodney Wallace
Tim Boetsch vs. Todd Brown
Charlie Brenneman vs. Johny Hendricks
Christian Morecraft vs. Stefan Struve
Dennis Hallman vs. Ben Saunders

Anyone remember one of the earliest Sonnen rants where he was talking about guys in pink shirts and ****-eyed hats getting run out of his neighborhood? I think Anderson does...

HAHA, I thought the same thing the first time I saw the pink shirt at the presser. Needless to say, I don't think it was a coincidence that he showed up in pink with a crooked hat.

Praise Chael, he awoke the Spider.

FYI we're deciding between the points system and win-loss in the "Should There be a Penatly......" thread so if you want to voice your opinion do it there.

I'm cool with whatever you decide to go with. It's just for fun anyways. I just like being able to talk MMA here without having to venture to places like Sherdog and deal with absolute crap posted there every day.

My first guess was the guy in charge of bombing Pearl Harbour aka "the guy who woke the sleeping giant". Then I quoted your post and the tags say his name then Pearl Harbour after it so I'm guessing I'm right.

My picks TBD:

MAIN CARD

Anderson Silva (c) vs. Chael Sonnen (for middleweight title)
Thiago Alves vs. Jon Fitch
Rafael dos Anjos vs. Clay Guida
Ricardo Almeida vs. Matt Hughes
Junior Dos Santos vs. Roy Nelson

PRELIMINARY CARD
Dustin Hazelett vs. Rick Story
Phil Davis vs. Rodney Wallace
Tim Boetsch vs. Todd Brown
Charlie Brenneman vs. Johny Hendricks
Christian Morecraft vs. Stefan Struve
Dennis Hallman vs. Ben Saunders

I would really like to see Alves win, but this is an extremely tough fight for being out of the cage so long.
