Ladd/Versteeg will definitely be missed on that 3rd line, pretty significant drop off. Buff during the regular season... other than one miracle OT goal he was very inconsistent on the ice. Best thing about him during the regular season was deterrence for cheap shot's on our star players.

Niemi was more of an emotional attachment for me. Who knows if he was an above average goalie, we may never know.

Buff wasn't a deterrent, what did he have...1 fighting major last year? He's more of an agitator than an enforcer. You were more likely to see Seabrook or Brouwer go after a guy than Buff.

Right, whatever you say. I was never a fan of buff or eager. Steeg I like and then ladd. Never liked niemi.

Not sure who I am throwing under the bus. And NONE of those guys were worth the money that tallon gave them.

Weren't you the guy saying buy out Huet to keep Niemi?

BTW were you a fan of Buff when he was scoring big playoff goals?

I always hated buf even when he was scoring the big playoff goals because I think if it wasn't him, with that team, that someone else would have stepped up.. And i was saying buyout huet AND get rid of niemi. I wanted him bought out so they could have kept steeg.

Buying out Huet would have been stupid. No point to have ~2m eating the cap for 4 years for nothing, but this was already covered extensively in that other thread. And IMO Ladd would have been the one to keep if it came down to Steeger or him. And buying out wouldn't have helped keeping Versteeg.

Because less of that garbage seemed to happen when he was on the ice. Nobody seemed willing to mix it up with him. He was a big factor with this during the playoffs. Who else was going after Pronger, ect.?

Buff didn't "go after" Pronger. He hit him when he had the chance but he didn't stop Pronger from playing rough with guys like Kane.

I've always liked Turco. An old U of M guy. I hope he has success w/the Hawks. I never like watching old vets struggle at the end of their careers no matter what team they play for. The change of teams could be great for him.

You guys should sign Stephan Tobias as a back up for Turco. Those two would be reunited...
