I am confident we didn't give up anything substantial for White. Do we need him? Not really, but Doug Riseborough was the GM in Minnesota and probably gave a good word to Sather on White, who has played with Gabby before. He's 35, makes 2.35 million and is coming off an injury. We got him for cheap.

Most likley a bubble player (Boyle?) and a mid-to-late pick going to ATL.

The deal makes absolutely no sense for either team if the Rangers are taking on 2 mil in salary from Atlanta.

Kind of surprised that nobody else has wind of this move other than a Wild beat-writer, surely they're not all sleeping.

Todd White did have 73 points (51 assists) just two seasons ago (08/09)...

Please show me a center on our roster capable of putting up 50+ assists and 70+ points this season? We don't have one.

Obviously some risk here with age/injury concerns, but I have a good feeling that the Rangers bought low here. Bubble player/pick/prospect.

He's 35 coming off of a shoulder injury. Not likely he gets back to that output. Furthermore the Rangers really cannot be adding salary. Redden to the minors after training camp will cover Staal's deal and the potential rookie contracts that will show up on the regular season cap number, but not much more. With Atlanta looking to get to the cap floor having the Rangers take Salary off of their hands for yet another 2nd/3rd line center makes no sense for either team.

It has to be Brashear. Minny needs to reach cap minimum, we want to get rid of the extra cap hit Brash gives us. We aquire White who signed his contract before the age of 35, thus he can be waived and all his $$ comes off the books/cap.

The deal is with atlanta not minnesota.

But yes, Atlanta still needs to hit the cap floor.

Trading White (2.35mil) for Brashear (1.4 mil) actually puts Atlanta further from the cap floor.

It's possible we send someone else along w/ Brash...Maybe Gilroy

OR

Maybe ATL is actually looking to free some space for something bigger they have planned.

We're not getting all the information here. I'll wait until tomorrow. If it's just straight up a 4th for Todd White this trade is garbage and I want our 4th back. >:/

Well, our top 9 just got better.

If we aren't sending any forwards back the other way, I don't see how MZA fits into our lineup now.

Isn't Brashear probably going to the KHL anyway, making his cap hit irrelevant since that'd be breach of contract?

All this news is very fishy, I wouldn't be surprised if it was someone else instead of todd white at this point, Or maybe someone WITH todd white for redden

Tell boyle to GTFO and problem solved.

C: Todd White, Erik Christensen, Artem Anisimov, Chris Drury
LW: Dubinsky, Frolov, Prospal, Avery
RW: Gaborik, Callahan, Prust, Weise
Extras
Boogard, Boyle, Byers, MZA

I may be forgetting someone?

I like that. This is, assuming we're not sending a forward the other way.

What's the deal with Avery's NTC? I can't see us trading any one of our other forwards in a salary type move, and it makes little sense to move anyone for Todd White that's a forward.

Hows that? White could also just be waived/scratched for boogard if needed for "rough" games.

Acquire White, clear some cap space, sign Staal, go to Banff and call it an offseason.

If we really do get White it seems like resigning both Christensen and Prospal was unnecessary.

I'm guessing it's either Brashear + 4th or something involving Rozsival. Drury isn't going anywhere. I'm almost sure the Rangers won't ask their captain to waive his NMC and even if they did, no way he would waive it to go to Atlanta. He's staying.

Sather's a miracle-worker if he manages to get rid of Redden, but Dudley's not that stupid.

I don't know what they expect of White. I read an article and a Rangers writer thinks White was traded for to add secondary scoring. The Rangers are thin at center for sure, but if they plan on using White on the 1st or 2nd line, that's a problem. I doubt the Rangers would trade for White and just waive him; however, if it means getting rid of Brashear, it's possible I guess. I think they plan on having White in the lineup this season though. It doesn't make sense right now, but it'll make more sense when we know what was traded to Atlanta.

Prospal can play left wing which means we would have White, Anisimov, Christensen and Drury playing centre. Nothing wrong with a bit of depth down the middle. Can you remember last season when Dubinsky went down with injury and we had Drury and Anisimov (not sure if we had Christensen at that point) and also Avery playing some C. Guys like Dubinsky and Prospal can play C but are better suited at wings.

Atlanta will have no problem with the cap floor. They still have to give raises to Bergfors and Little.

White's one good season was when he centered Kovalchuk.

So he centers Gabby and has another good season?
