Patrice Cormier

Hey guys, just wanted to know how Patrice was doing since you guys got him and if he is going to make the team this year? He was one of myfavorite prospects so I want to see him succeed just like Bergfors did with you guys this year.

well, his odds of making the team this year just increased a bunch with the trading of Todd White to NYR. its all up to him now.

he had a nice rookie camp, showed off his leadership skills and was very sound all over the ice. looking forward to watching this kid grow.

I might be going against the grain here but I don't like it that he has virtually been given a spot on the team when he has proven nothing yet.

Trading away Reasoner and White whom are very good pros to make way for this kid is a bold move. I am very suprised Dudley thinks he can step up to the elite level of the NHL despite missing 3/4 of a season of hockey.

He was good in prospect camp but their were others better than him. I also expect the same in training camp. Hopefully the kid proves me wrong and I'll be happy to cop "I told you so" from anyone on this forum if he proves worthy of a spot on opening night.

Someone said his upside was the second coming of Bobby Holik. If that means in his prime Bobby Holik, I am a happy camper. Someone else said Patrice Bergeron with a psycho streak, and another Ryan Kesler. If any of these happen, I will be the first to line up for Peter's I told you so's

Can't blame anyone for feeling like that. He's been hyped up pretty well around here. I think he'll be fine and I think we can expect the same issues any rookie has in their first season.

Totally agree with this post, especially the bolded. I would love to be wrong, but I just don't understand pushing this kid with an open spot on the big club's roster.

It's all Dudley preaching about him, no idea why he has been doing that. If they hand him a roster spot over another young prospect that outplays him I'll be upset to say the least.

some clown sitting behind me at the prospect camp was talking about cormier and how he's pretty sure he's going to get traded, and he's getting all of this attention from the organization so he looks like an attractive offer to other teams. what a maroon.

That's stupid. Whoever said that is stupid.

I hate to hype, but I really do think Cormier will make a big impact this year.

Several impacts, actually. Quite a couple of "THRASHERS ARE GOONS" threads will be made this year

Pretty sure it comes down to either Cormier or Klingberg making the team.

Dudley had his chance to trade him in a deal for Halak. Given he didn't bite on that deal, I seriously doubt Cormier gets traded at all.

Klingberg isn't quite ready. Size wise he is, but from what people were saying he has lost a bit of a step since he added the size. Plus he has another year with his swedish team.

I assume somebody's posted this pic elsewhere, but just in case.....this was always a favorite of mine to use in our Cormier threads:

What is a maroon.....is that a bad version of red? Now a moron on the other hand, well that's a different story.

Latest, as of Nov 11:

Quote:
Center Patrice Cormier, who has been out with a broken right foot, was skating a half hour prior to the team taking the ice. It’s the first I’ve seen the prospect on skates since the eve of training camp when he suffered the injury blocking a shot. I know he was still wearing a walking boot as recently as Saturday and may still require the aid. However, the injury appears to be progressing.

Cormier skated and did a little shooting under the watch of Thrashers’ trainers Tommy Alva and Barry Brennan.

Thrashers coach Craig Ramsay said that Cormier has been been on skates recently while the team has been on the road. Ramsay had no timetable when Cormier might return.
