eh, I don't mind. He plays hard and would be a good mentor for the kids at Bridgeport, and can fill in with the big club if injuries arise.

Is this insurance against PAP completely stinking up the joint?

Damn.....I hate Sim, I don't want to see him play one second in an Isle's uni this year.

Can't wait to watch him work his way into the 2nd PP unit. Jesus Christ, somebody shoot me!

He was a PPG player in the AHL, and that's probably where he'll stay. I'm actually digging Bridgeport's depth this year, seems like the team is full of prospects itching to make the next step. As opposed to past years, where it seemed Bridgeport was filled with journeymen who never cut it in the big leagues.

Holy overreaction? Its a two-way deal. At worst, hes a leader and mentor in Bridgeport who is familiar with the organizations philosophy. At best, hes a 4th line guy with NYI who scores 13 goals on the 4th line without being a defensive liability.

If he has a two way contract there is a chance a vet like that will get snagged from waivers. But why...

To be honest he works hard and plays hard and we could have worse on the AHL/NHL shuttle, he took a two-way deal so obviously he is accepting he will play some in AHL and Bridgeport lost some veteran scorers this offseason and you need some vets in AHL.

The only thing I don't like about this is that it doesn't free up #16.
A goal scorer should only wear that # for the Isles.

Didn't realize it was a two way deal. That still doesn't makeup for the fact that he is a annoyingly ugly dude.

As a two-way contract this is a great signing. As already noted, Jon Sim is one of the hardest workers around. Jon Sim puts in the kind of effort you want to see your top prospects match; in order to earn a spot on the team. Its easier to appreciate this signing if you view it in context of Sim as tool to assist the development of younger players (mentor, depth challenge etc.). With that said I hope the majority of his games are in Bridgeport and that he does not earn time past the fourth line... otherwise it speaks woefully of the Isles depth and quality.

Two variables make this a good signing. Two way, one year.

Damn...
Good for Sim I guess, he always seemed like a really nice guy. Hopefully he stays very far away from the big club.

They must be confident that nobody will claim him.

Seriously, its my favorite number because of Patty. I do have a Sim Jersey b/c of him wearing #16.
I am also president of his fan club
Good depth signing for the Isles. 2 way contract. Nothing to be upset about. He will be good for the kids in the Bridge

With all due respect, I can give a rats arse if he's a nice guy or not. There are plenty of agitators out there who can actually play the game...

At least I'm fairly confident he wont be able to make the team this year... we already have a surplus of forwards who are more valuable than he is.

Sim did have 13 goals last year, he will play in AHL some and provide some NHL games when Gillies isn't needed
