Some of the kids Petrov, Martin, etc.....have to BEAT Sim out for a spot in training camp.
very good point. personally, i don't want any "younger" player on the roster unless they contribute more than Sim, in one way or another. Sim plays a consistent game, consistent effort, consistent output - you get what you get with no surprises, albeit very limited.
Coaches take his game 10 times out of 10 over a guy like Bergenheim - probably why he's gone.
Assuming no other forwards are added before game 1 (I think there WILL BE one other forward added) then I HOPE 1-2 of Petrov, Martin, Joensuu make the team by winning a job at camp - but if not, I'm more than happy to have Sim on the 4th line with Konopka and Weight.
Although I won't call him a leader in any way, his hard work could give a boost to a few AHLers. We already know what we have with Sim and as stated by a few already, I don't want to risk bringing someone else up who is going to be worse than Sim. If someone earns the chance to play and brings more than what Sim can offer (God we pray that isn't too hard for our prospects), I could care less if he stays in the AHL for the whole season.
