Alexender Vasyunov to Ottawa

What would it take to get him to the Sens? We need some forward prospects(I know about Murray not wanting Russians but I was just wondering about this).

The Devils require cap space in any upcoming trades. The Senators, unfortunately, cannot offer this.

Surprised anyone even appreciates this young Russian. One of my favorite prospects. Nice top-6 upside, 25-35 with some defensive effort.

This is pretty random. I'm surprised that somebody who isn't a Devils fan has even heard of him.

Vasyunov is definitely available for the right price. In this case, that price would entail taking a bad contract. As others have noted, Ottawa probably cannot do this.

Bryce Salvador, have your GM call Lou, I'll pay for his plane ticket.

But is the call toll-free?

Considering Murray traded away his 1st overall pick which is a sick russian kid in Tarasenko, I can't see this even being considered let alone the salary dumping that isn't possible for Ottawa to take on.

How about a straight up prospect swap like Vasyunov for Cowen/Wiercioch.

I'd think that the Devils would be all over that like white on rice. But I can't see it ever being offered by Ottawa.

If we sell prospects, it'll be for cap space.

The Devils would probably jump on this. Vasyunov is good, but he isn't that good.

You'd be able to get a better prospect offering one of those two. I'd do Nick Palmieri for Wiercioch.

Yeah but Sens wouldnt. Palmieri is good but he's not worth the downgrade just because hes a winger.

Eh maybe Wiercioch, but Cowen has regressed so much it's not even funny.

Cowen for Vasyunov/Palmieri/Henrique would be fair.

I think you might be in the minority. I believe most Sens fans are very high on Cowen.

I can personally guarantee you that you are incorrect.
He was playing below his level because he was still in the time frame where medical doctors said he would be far below full form. I can also personally guarantee you that the Sens staff see's him as a lock to be top 4 defensively. Wether they decide they need more D or not will decide wether or not he makes the team, but the only D-Men better than him defensively in our org are Phillips, Gonchar, and possibly Kuba. This isn't from my mouth, it's from the people who have jobs that 99% of people on this board couldn't get in their wildest dreams.

Edit: And those same people would much rather Cowen than Wiercioch. Like not close. Cowen is on a different level and has the potential to be easily the best DMan out of our 4.
