Barry Trotz Poker!

Let's play the game we all suspect Barry Trotz plays when making a line-up card! Use the chart above and deal out normal deck of playing cards into 2 piles including the jokers. You will end up with 27 cards. Straighten the cards out so they are in nice even piles and turn them over so that they are face up. You get to pick the deck you want! Remember kids that the higher the card, the better the player.

Deuces are wild and can be a Vet F, Vet D, Vet G or even Ryan Ellis!

Jokers (David Poile, Barry Trotz) can be replaced with ANY PLAYER YOU WANT!!!! (No duplications kids. You can't have 3 Shea Webers). If you get 4 or more goalies in a deal, you get to replace the 4th and more goalie for ANY PLAYER IN THE OTHER DECK YOU WANT! Will you get the Nashville Predators or the Milwaukee Admirals? Will Ian McKenzie find his way to the big club. Only you can find out with......Barry Trotz Poker!

Build your team the Barry Trotz way!

And now a serious message from our lawyers.

Ok, most of you complain when Trotz mixes up the line ups like he's got names in a blender when he's making margaritas. I thought this was just a Nashville thing but the fact is ALL the clubs' fanbases complain about this. But there is a purpose for this. Many actually.

1) Familiarity breeds comfort.

If you are an opposing coach you want the coach on the other side to use the same lineups, over and over again. Give you more chances to break it down and stop it. You can figure out if you have to stop the WHOLE line or just shut down one player to kill the lines.

2) Team Chemistry.

You want your team to play together. You want them to learn each other's idiosyncrasies. Would you rather learn if a set of players can work together mid-season, or AFTER the injury to the star player happens?

3) It really depends on what the other team puts out there.

The first shift is HUGE in hockey. If could mean the difference between putting out a set of lines which are generic. (Last change) Or puting out lines to stop the opposing team's offense. (First change)

Now comes the hard part. Finding the right hat to put your cards in and make lines!
