Minor Florida-Nashville trade coming

from NHLPredsInsider which is an official team account

The Predators/Panthers connection strikes again. Don't get your hopes up though, nothing major. Details to come.

If we can have a massive Todd White thread, I'm sure there could be some rampant speculation here.

Preds need a backup goalie, don't they? Clemmensen is my guess.

Not really. Neither team has any big contracts to move, nor is Florida or Nashville in any type of cap trouble.

What does Nashville's goalie situation look like?

EDIT- Back-up goalie situation.

Official, Mike Santorelli for a fifth round pick.

Santorelli has been a good AHL player, but never could do anything in several NHL chances.

He was the story of training camp last year when he had a couple of insane scrimmages, one of which he scored 4 goals..and made the team out of camp, but was sent down not long after that, and looked pretty bad in numerous callups.

Interested to see what happens here... Tallon did good finding nobodies at the time in Chicago with Versteeg and Sharp

So does Florida want his brother too? Mark Santorelli? Forward. We'll take a 6th for him.

Well, I nailed the deal on Twitter and the Preds board so...let's see if I get the real meaning of this transaction right too...

The Predators were at the 50 contract limit, but with this trade now have only 49 contracts on the books...

I think a veteran backup netminder will be signing in Nashville in the coming days (maybe a couple weeks)...

Santorelli has improved statistically every year of his hockey career, dating back to his college days. You can wipe away your tears now, Rochester fans.

Florida got a top AHL line player. Scores about 1.2 points a game.

If Nash are in need of a back-up would they have any interest in JDD? Possibly for someone like Goc?

Pred's trade a 4th line centre for a decent back-up.

EDM slays the Hydra, and gets a guy that can fill the 3rd line centre need.

Tons of fun.

A "minor trades" thread to go along with the "minor signings" thread, perhaps?

Nashville likes Goc. If anything they are going to move Cal O'Reilly next. He would be a better fit for a 3rd line center.

When "Mike Santorelli For A Conditional 5th Round Pick" gets its own thread, you know the offseason must be boring.

Pity, would have loved to have Goc on the Oil: decent size, can win >50% of his FO's, PK's well, and would've brought some experience to young team.

Though I must ask, what's the story on O'Reilly? I can't say anything other than I know nothing about him, but looking at his stats, I'm surprised that you think the Cats would want to move him. He's only 23, has done very well at the AHL level and seemed to have somewhat respectable stats last year in the NHL with 11 points and a +1 in 31 games.

No room on the roster. one way contract. Just doesn't mesh on the Preds like Rich Peverley didn't mesh with the Preds. Right now, Nashville still has a tons of forwards who can play NHL minutes in Milwaukee and the big needs for Nashville is cheap vet back-up goalie who can play 10-15 and win more than 50%. Or a vet d-man on the cheap who can eat 18 minutes.
