Question about Leighton

Ranger fan here who comes in peace.

I have a really OT question about Leighton, that does not pertain to hockey at all.

While watching CBC's Farewell to the Playoffs video the other day, I paused the video at 1:11, which happened to be a a short clip of Leighton sitting in the locker room before a game. In the right side of wall, which might be a part of his locker, their was a pink piece of clothing hanging up. Underneath it, a pair of sneakers also colored pink.

Just out of pure curiosity, does anybody know why this was in the Flyers' locker room at all? Just seems kind of odd and way out of place. I can't really tell by just pausing the video if its in the locker next to him or not.

Figured this would be the best board to ask. Mods if this is way OT, please feel free to lock it.

EDIT- Forgot the to post the video.

Never noticed that.

Got no idea why, though.

My guess is some sort of memorial for a mother or a practical joke none of us will ever understand.

Yeah, I'm guessing it's just a locker room joke/prank.

That's what Leighton wears to work. He likes to hang them up next to him so that they don't get messed up.

Someone had to do it....

Good to see that I'm not the only one who is clueless about this. I thought I might of totally missed some sort of news report where it was mentioned.

The only thing that came to mind was breast cancer, due to the pink item of clothing and the sneakers.

Does anybody know if he is married or not?

I don't have the answer... but if I had to guess I would say it was a Breast Cancer Awareness thing. It is on the hanger NEXT to Leights and clearly pink. Hanging an article of clothing is a somewhat common tribute/memorial in sports (Harry Kalas' jacket and white shoes for but one example)... I'd think it is for an extended family member.

We need a Flyers inside source.

This is what I was thinking. I was hoping that a source already mentioned this, but I guess not. Do you guys know if any Flyers beat writers read HF?

I really want to know what it is there for.

The answer is obvious. They are there to help him keep in touch with his inner female. When he is on the ice he doesn't have them as a reminder so he keeps in touch with his inner female by not closing his ****ing legs.

anyway... yeah, if I had to guess I would say it was a practical joke. I would imagine if it was, someone on the team had to catch that video and have a good laugh about it.

on a separate note, I've never seen this video before and I enjoyed it a lot, thanks for posting it! (even if that wasn't your original intention )

I hope he sees this thread and somehow finds out. He probably won't though, as it really isn't something important.

We've narrowed it down to one of three things:
Memorial to mother/wife
Breast Cancer
Locker Room Joke

Everyone's overlooking this.

Could easily have to do with the Pronger in a dress thing.

Except that clip comes from before Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals. I distinctly remember the clip of Leighton in the dressing room because he looked like a deer in headlights at the beginning before someone told him he was on camera and I said "Oh ****, this isn't going to be good".

I was actually thinking that it may have been a momento of his daughter since the outfit looks small and the style is childish. Something like, "Go make me proud to call you daddy by not getting pulled twice in the SC Finals and letting it end in OT of game 6 with the single worst goal EVER scored in a SC Final!"

Then on June 25th:

"Don't worry, even though you are a chronic disappointment I'll still love you if you can manage to blackmail your team into taking you back at double what you are worth and you use the money to buy me a pony!"
