Hi guys! Thanks so much for picking me! No, you are correct it wasn't my first thought, but I'm excited about it. Being a southern hockey fan you kind of develop a chip on your shoulder because you get a lot of crap from Canadians and others about how you don't "deserve" hockey. With Oiler Nation behind me, I feel better already!
A little about me...I was born in Mobile, Alabama. This is beach country down along the Gulf Coast. We know more about hurricanes than hockey. We got an ECHL team in 1992, the Mobile Mysticks, and that's where I fell in love with the sport. I moved to Atlanta in 2001, met my husband and started going to Thrashers games. I've been following the Thrashers for about 6 years, season ticket holder for 3.
I have a blog that I keep up pretty actively. It's a photo blog, so it will be a little hard to update with Oiler news, but I do have some pictures I can use. Another perk, I have a friend who is in Oklahoma City who blogs about the Barons. I'm hoping to go to Charlotte to see them play the Checkers next season.
One of my favorite (currently only) Oiler memories was being at Thrashers practice and when it was over, the Oilers had the ice. They were playing the Thrashers the next day. I would have gotten my picture taken with Khabibulin, but my friend left and I didn't have anyone to take the picture
I rarely hit the main board and had no idea this was even going on, but kudos to the ATL fans for showing an overall passion for hockey through what I think is a fun (or funny) idea. Welcome aboard, Sunshine. Look forward to the OKC updates from you. Always good to have another AHL source.
