Patrick O'Sullivan to NSH

I'll preface this by saying that the only link I have to this is an Eklund E4, which I know doesn't typically carry a whole lot of weight(although, despite being a noted skeptic, I'll give credit where it's due...he's doing okay this summer). With that said, I normally wouldn't even post it, but given two conversations I've recently had with the Predators PA announcer and noted "hockey talk" radio guy\blogger Paul McCann, he stated that he's heard the same thing...once before Eklund's article, and once after.

At any rate, I would think it would be a minimum contract, or pretty close to it. With having been bought out, it likely won't take much, and this late in the game he might even be forced to take a two way deal. There isn't a lot of open space on Nashville's forward roster at the moment, so he'd definitely have to earn a position, if he is to play for the Predators, but could be a situation similar to Sergei Kostitsyn...low risk, high reward scenario.

But...anyway, just thought I'd pass the rumor along.

E4 means nothing. E5 means there's a possibility. lol.

I'd think we'd be in the market for a decent backup goalie or top 4 dman before another forward.

Well, as I mentioned, I was posting less on the Eklund article and more on the info from McCann.

Sully would be great for Nashville. The guy has plenty of skill. He just needs a market where there won't be a lot of attention paid to him. He was never going to survive Edmonton.

Doesn't really seem like a Trotz type of player. Bit of an inconsistent effort(or in the case of him with the oilers, none at all) I don't see it as a fit.

What are you talking about? There was no media attention in LA

ONRAIT: What's been the most surprising thing playing for a Canadian team?

O'SULLIVAN: It's definitely different coming from L.A. where nobody cared and after the game we'd have two people in the room waiting to talk to us. I didn't know what to expect when I was traded and I didn't know how I was going to like it. But to me, I think it's great. You want to play somewhere where hockey is important. It's everything and more that I thought it would be. The games are sold out and it's a fun building to play in. Outside of the weather, it's a great city. In my opinion if you want to live somewhere warm, you can do it when you're done playing.

O'Sullivan had 26 points in 28 games to end the 07/08 season.

He's got skill but sometimes plays like he doesn't want to be noticed. In interviews, he seems very tepid and shows very little on-ice emotion. He needs a psychologist or something to deal with his daddy issues.

It's not like he's some dime-a-dozen grinder:

It would be a shame for someone like that not to have a home in the NHL.

I like Sully and wish him the best, but he's a headcase.

Unfortunately for good reason. Its quite sad, he looked like he was doing well and beginning to succeed in the NHL until this last season, I hope he gets another chance and makes the most of it.

The last two are both against the Blues.

Hopefully Trotz can give him the structure that he needs. He seems like a really good kid, just kid of lazy. It also seems like he has some confidence issues too. There's no questioning his natural ability though.

Definitely a low risk, high reward situation. As mentioned earlier, Nashville is the perfect place for him to go. Great coaching staff, and little off-ice attention.

Nashville already has a Sullivan so unless they are trying to create a 'Fighting Sullivan's' linen then no.

Hope he gets signed. Would love for O'Sullivan to get another chance. To bad his dad screwed him up.

O'Sullivan is possibly the antithesis to a Barry Trotz player.

Eklund said it? Might as well pull out a US map and throw a dart at it to get a better prediction.

I would like to see Sully come to Carolina.

Doesn't his father still live in North Carolina?

This sums it up pretty good. They'd have to tear down the "Smashville" signs if this guy gets into the line-up. No doubt he's got world class skill, but he puts the "less" in heartless.

That's a little misguided. It's not like other coaches haven't given him the structure he needs.

Hmmm seems like the complete opposite type of player Nashville would be interested in. Nashville has a bunch of honest, hardworking players who aren't afraid to get a little physical and battle for the puck. Patrick O'Sullivan is pretty much the opposite, no heart, no hustle. Hope it's league minimum for Nashvilles sake.

Maybe Trotz can succeed where others have failed, or maybe O'Sullivan is finally ready to listen. Hope it works out for the kid.

I can't see POS going to Nashville, he needs a team like Pitt that has players that cal do all the work to set him up... Even then he'll just do what he does best when he gets a 5* chance, either hit the post, or shoot it right at the goalie. Sorry if I sound a bit bitter, I liked the guy when he first came to EDM, thought he'd be the perfect player to go with Hemsky, but by the end he was making me wish Lupul was still here...

That Cole/Willaims/O'Sullivan trade really didn't worked out for anyone.
