There's your answer right there, probably. Get out while you're ahead...

Meh... if he had been struggling a lot during the course of the game, I'd be more inclined to agree, but he really wasn't.

Oh, look, JC Romero runs a 3-0 count and then gives up the back-breaking single... is anyone even the least bit surprised? We're still totally screwed with our LH relief pitching situation.

Oh, he sure will be... unless you want to go with Bastardo as our only LHP out of the pen. I've been saying it for a month now -- we should have gotten Fuentes from the Angels (I don't care that he hasn't been good in the playoffs, he would have still helped us at the end of the season, if nothing else).

They both suck(Bastardo and JC). You're right however, Amaro's failure to get any kind of LH help for the bullpen will cost us dearly come October.

LH relievers are few and far between. Doesnt matter how bad our relievers pitch if we continue to be shut out.

But when your job is to keep a 2 run hole at 2, and you continuously can't even throw a ****ing strike, then the odds of winning a game become even greater.

Thanks, JC, you ****ing doucher. If you had done your job and kept the game at 2-0, we'd have the lead right now.

I have to admit, I'm really not going to be that sad to see Werth go. He just comes up small in way too many big situations. More than anything, I'll be excited about giving Brown the chance to start everyday.

How quickly we forget last year's playoffs... dude has a 1.044 career OPS in the playoffs.

Well, then. Allow me to rephrase: He has come up small in way too many big situations THIS season. However, if he shows up and kills it in the playoffs, I'll gladly stick my foot squarely in my mouth.

Assuming he leaves, we're going to miss him... there will be a significant downgrade in defense in RF (as well as the flexibility for CF). Werth has had his RISP problems this year, but that stuff is really unpredictable.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Brown develops into... but would much prefer he was replacing Ibanez (who isn't strong defensively, and clearly declining physically).

Oh well.

I like that his team is getting back their "you can't give up on 'em" groove late in games, though.

He'll be missed in that Brown, unless he outperforms everyone's expectations for his first season, won't immediately match Werth's production. We're going to need a RH bat to platoon with him. I'd rather it be someone other than Francisco, but he might end up being the only option. I disagree with you that Brown will be a "significant" downgrade in RF. There will obviously be some growing pains, but by all accounts, Dom's a very good OF, and he definitely has the athleticism, range, and arm to develop into an elite defensive player.

Obviously, I'd rather we could re-sign Werth and replace Ibanez with Brown, but, unfortunately, that isn't the case. Werth wants to get paid (this is his only chance to cash in on a lucrative long-term deal), and some team is probably going to give him $10-12M per season, at the minimum, to play RF and bat in the middle of its lineup. As valuable as Werth has been to this team over the past four seasons, he's not one of the core players that must be kept at all costs.

Likewise. They are definitely getting their swagger back. I was so sure Ruiz was going to deliver that 2-out pinch-hit RBI to tie the game. He is Mr. Clutch, after all. Meh, whatever. We got Oswalt on the bump tomorrow, time to win this series.

Boy, did Boggs ever hang that slider... and, boy, did Alex Gonzalez ever totally destroy it. That thing was loooooooong gone. Looks like we have ourselves a tie atop the NL East.
