I think NJ made sure they had the same arbitrator as the one that ruled in the Brendan Shanahan case in '91.

Do people think Kovalchuk will bolt to the KHL if the contract is deemed null and void by the arbritrator?

NJ didn't have any say in the choice. The arbitrator is chosen jointly by the NHL and the NHLPA.

No, since there never was an actual offer from the KHL, just speculative tongue-in-cheek comments by Medvedev that were poorly translated by the incompetent North-American sports media.

Nice conspiracy theory, but the judge who made the decision in the Shanahan-Stevens case, Edward Houston, died in 2003.

Not a chance. I would bet there's a Contract B drawn up.

I won't whine. The contract keeps Kovalchuk away from the Kings for good, ends this annoying saga, and I'm not a big fan of the cap anyways. Having Parise, Kovalchuk and Elias on the same team is entertaining and will make for better hockey (not that the Kovalchuk and Kopitar would not have been entertaining).

If somebody learns of something, post it with a working link.

Fake reports or invalid sources are not acceptable and will be dealt with accordingly.

Ok I go to Google news and look up Kovalchuk and all the headlines say, "Kovalchuk decision expected today" why is the word "expected" there? The decision must be today. We all have had 40 days and 40 nights of rain and it is time to find dry land. Both my boss and my wife would like it if I would get some work done.
