Oliwa is dressed tonight and there's already been a fight and an elbow to the head dished out by Calgary. I think we all know Sutter has in mind for his players tonight.

I disagree. If he was fighting Roy, then it's stupid but Vinny is no goon.

Iginla going off for 5 hurts the Flames far more than Lecavalier going off for 5 does the Bolts

nice conspiracy theory....not

good penalty killing by both teams. The refs are really cracking down tonight...which isn't exactly good for the flames

I think I'd rather watch Oliwa vs. Roy, that wasn't much of a fight. I'd call it a draw.

Not old enough. Blood was an invention of the 70's and 80's.

Before that, old time hockey was good clean hockey. Watching the transition from the 60's to the 70's was very painful to watch.

Many may disagree with me but I am not impressed with this game. Sure we can see some beautiful hits and heart....what I can't see is hockey!

Hits, scrumps, hits, fights...it's all nice but I can't see a game.

So are these 2 teams even on the elbowing now? That would be cool, cause then people would have to stop whining about them or using them to justify crap.

Sorry that is how Calgary plays. It's going to be an ugly game, because otherwise Tampa will simply kill them if they actually play hockey.

BTW, I guess Iginla isn't as tough as I thought since he couldn't even take out Vincent in a one-on-one fight. That was funny to watch.

Pathetic.

The Flames have 2 good players and the rest is crap like you said in the other thread.

If that's the case, Jarome Iginla really must be the best player in the world.

Remember Brendan Morrow's flying blindside elbow to Iginla in Dallas this year? He's a class player eh?

Vinny is actually a decent fighter. He DESTROYED Ference back when he was on the Panthers. He can hold his own and showed that against Iginla. Not the laughing stock fight some thought it would be if Vinny fought Iginla...

Hey, I make no excuses for Morrow. He's a tough player who takes it too far from time to time. Seriously, this game is going Calgary's way. Their hasn't been any flow at all, and it is just plain ugly hockey.

Advantage Calgary.

quoted for truth

It'll open up in the second methinks. This first was a feeling out process, a process to get both teams agresssion out of each other so they can play hockey

and always think, would you rather see Anaheim vs New Jersey?

God I hope so. That had to be the worst period of hockey I've seen in the playoffs all year long. It reminded me of something as dull as NJ vs. Anaheim was, actually.

We should all thank Tortorella for ruining this SCF. He was the one crying that there weren't enough penalties in game 1. Now we have marginal holding the stick calls and special teams for half the period.

Great game, thanks Tortorella

it was better for me because

1) it's the flames...in the SCF
2) Iginla vs Lecavalier was classic
3) the hitting

can you tell I'm a fan of physical hockey? still, one of the more boring-er Flames periods this playoffs

Are you kidding? This is what the Flames do all the time. Stiffling illegal defense that results in scoring chances the other way... except the Lightning are doing it back.

Result?

2, count'em, TWO!!!! shots by the Flames.

I bet the NHL is so happy they let the "players" decide the game instead of the Refs doing their ****ing jobs!!

Look..I am not a fan of either team (my screen name is pretty much self-explanatory) and I am kind off rooting for Calgary, but I also love game of hockey.

This period looked like "goon-it-up" regular season game. Pond hockey.

I don't know about NJD/Ducks finals but Colorado/NJD was sure more interesting.

I am yet to see a single tape to tape pass, or quality shot. Tons of penalties and that's all.

So true so true. The longer Calgary can stay away from playing hockey and how much of it the refs will allow clearly plays into the hands of Calgary. Once they start to play hockey Tampa will steamroll em.
