Brian Rolston

IF the kovy contract gets approved and IF Lou was to heavily shop rolston, what would it take to take him off our hands?

This could be brutal

Realistically, you would likely have to package him with your first round pick to get a team to take him.

Rolston, 1st to calgary for staios

Rolston+1st round+2nd round in 2011 for Kaberle

But seriously, Gagne went for Matt Walker and a 4th, and I'd see he has more value (much better production at only a slightly higher cap hit, not to mention he's younger) so I'd expect something like a borderline 4th liner/ bottom pairing d-man and a late round pick, or a bust prospect.

Nothing to look forward to, IMO.

Yea. I would love the Devils to do something like Rolston and a 3rd for a bag of pucks. That would be a steal.

I think it would cost a lot more than a 3rd.

Not only is Gagne a better point producer, but he only had 1 yr left on his deal.Rolston's got 2 yrs.

I can't see any team taking Rolston.Maybe if he bounces back with a big first half and makes himself attractive to teams at the trade deadline.

I think a fair deal would be:

Rolston + 1st round pick 2011

for

4th round pick 2011 or player/prospect of similar value

Rolston signed a 4 year deal with the Devils in the summer of 2008. He was born Feb of 1973, so in the summer of 2008, he had already turned 35, thus subject to the rule that no matter what happens, his cap hit will count against the team with his rights.

That is going to be an issue for any team.

Finger for Rolston is doable... saves the NJD some $ and they could buy out Finger if they had to...

Leafs could use Rolston... And Burke likes his Yanks...

I bet a rebuilding team like Edmonton or Florida would accept Rolston and a 1st for a minimal return.

I'd give up a 1st or a good prospect along with Rolston.

Rolston
2nd/Eckford

Needs to be a whole hell of a lot more than 1 pick if you expect us to take Rolston.

No thanks.
Finger can be sent to the Marlies to rid us of that bad contract.

We would be stuck with Rolston and that contract for 2 years.

5M a season for a guy who has scored 37 and 32 points the last 2 years.
besides that would screw us for the cap.

Burkie owes Lou a few favors.

If Rolston comes with a 1st, I think he'll bite.

No, no he wouldn't. Rolston's negitve value is higher than a first round pick in a cap world.
You guys paid a first to get rid of Makarov's cap hit and it was lower for less time and cost the sharks no real money.
