As I said in the other thread watch the wording of the title. Kovy staying a Devil could mean they have agreed to a new deal if the decision goes the other way (and that is something more likely to be leaked than an arbitrators decision). Of course while that is not bad, winning the arbitration case is better because a restructured contract would be a higher cap hit (limiting further offseason moves).
I'm not going to celebrate just yet. I'm skeptical of this (not of Kovy staying, because I'm sure he is). It may not mean what some are thinking they mean. Perhaps Dagoon can clarify what he has been told.
You guys are going to have a great team this season. Having Kovy, Parise, Zajac, Arnott and Elias up front is just crazy. Volchenkov and Tallinder will add a lot to your defense and will definately thrive in the Devils style.
Should be, unless he means they already signed a second contract
It could mean they have agreed in principle as a backup plan. First off it would be the smart thing to do as a backup plan to mitigate the PR if the decision goes the other way (you don't have fans thinking he might go somewhere else). Secondly, that is more likely to be leaked like this rather than an arbitrator's decision based in D.C.
If the arbitrator has already notified the parties of the decision and the PA won, wouldn't the PA get that information out immediately. Even at 11:30 at night?
