I was surprised he even came to Dinamo Zagreb, but then when we learned he made 900K euros a season it wasn't really shocking anymore. Less surprising was the fact he was sacked rather quickly, no way I saw it working between him and Mamic, he is a "my way or the highway" type coach which might have hurt him at Ivory Coast
I remember Vahid benching Drogba - and he had to

The good news is that we don't have any superstar like Drogba on the Algerian NT (maybe Boudebouz in a few years), so nobody will get the coach fired
(well, hopefully)

So the yearly US fundraiser is here, and it appears the US will play Mexico again....one month from now in Philly on August 10th....kinda random and seems like terrible timing for many of the European guys.

Awesome. Another game against Mexico in a big city where it'll be pro-Mexico just like the last ****ing one. Fundraising for nothing which is just wonderful. Make all the Euro-based players fly back to the US for a mid-week game a few days before some of them start their seasons. And any BL based players will have already started their season. Great.

USSF really pisses me off sometimes. I'd rather have a game against any Euro team with an open date, even the really good ones that I railed against having games against.

The way Mexico has taken over the North American scene these past two Gold Cups, I think a match against a full strength Mexican squad is a good friendly.

Not sure what you mean by that (you realize in 09 the US A team was in South Africa right?)? But the US and Mexico just played 2 weeks ago?? Has much really changed? Except teams will probably be even weaker sides as both teams are littered with Euro's that will just about to start their season....US will have players liking trying to break in or maintain their starting spots and now are gonna be pulled out for a completely meaningless game.

A game against Mexico is never meaningless. Yes, it might be a friendly but these two North American powerhouses never treat it as such. This is an epic rivalry and the only team the US really has a grudge match against. In 09' the States decided not to send a full squad team because the winner of the Gold Cup that year didn't gain a spot in the Confederations Cup. And even though the US and Mexico played a few weeks ago, this game isn't until August. It's a revenge match up, the States really need to get back on top and believe me when you beat Mexico it goes a LONG LONG way for the players morale and it's a fantastic friendly before World Cup qualifying beings for the States who eventually will have to play Mexico home & away during the final group stage.

I don't see the Scottish complaining when they play a more superior English side in a grudge match or when the top two teams in South American play (Brazil & Argentina) or any other top sides in the world.

Also, a US-Mexico game will sell out. That's a big plus too, money doesn't grow on trees for either association.

I understand your reasoning in terms of players playing in Europe during that time period but who's to say the USA won't select an MLS based squad only?

And last time I checked August 10th is an international date scheduled in. Most world nations will be playing that day. Most club's players will be traveling around the world. Clubs have known about this international match reserved date for a long time. It's been on the FIFA calendar for over 2 years and maybe you don't know this but every single year the FIFA calendar has a match date reserved in mid August.

come on Germany score some more goals. 1-0 isn't going to cut it.

I want a 5-0 against ther germans and a 3-0 against turkey so we finally get rid of Constantini and get a real coach.

*Yawn* Why is San Marino participating anyway? 9-0 with still 10 minutes left.. Oranje is barely going full throttle with a depleted line-up.

Wijnaldum scores in his debute, 11-0. Somehow I feel quite satisfied with Elia and Wijnaldum backing up Robben and van Persie.

Game finished, goals from van Persie (4x), Huntelaar (2x), Sneijder (2x), Heitinga, Wijnaldum, van Bommel.

Is Huntelaar a regular for Oranje?

Nice game from germany btw, götze is the real deal, almost already on özil's level.

I hope I wasn't the only one that just watched Spain/Chile turn into a mass brawl. Torres tried kicking a Chilean player, Arbeloa was being, well, himself. Awful stuff all around.
