Ugh, sorry, forgot to get on the picks. Should be a great event.

**** I forgot this was tonight. I didn't make any picks.

Pickett/Jorgensen fight has been great so far.

Why isn't the deadline just prior to the event starting for the picks?

Am I prophetic or what? Pettis steamrolled Roller. He looked amazing. His kicks were just... unreal.

Good question. Guess I could do that. But this time it's not really fair to Kurt or others who didn't make picks. Anyone object to me letting those picks in? It was before the card started.

Pettis strikes me as more of an Alan Belcher type (not surprising I guess since they're from the same camp) -- someone whose base is really kickboxing but has the submission savvy to take advantage if the opportunity presents itself.
Pettis has a fantastic ground game for triangles and kimuras. His limbs are so long and so strong and his flexibility is off the charts. I think you saw tonight that yes, he is a submission artist. His stand up is fantastic and his ground game is fantastic. He invited Roller, a world class wrestler, into his guard all night (and that was only when Roller could get him down!).

The kid is only 23, I believe. His potential is unbelievable.

6-2 for me. Good night for me tonight. I should just only do WEC cards. I know more about these guys than I should.

Another great card from the WEC. No surprise.

I can't stand Cruz so I wish he would have lost but hopefully this means we'll get a Cruz/Faber rematch soon.

I would give it to him. But next fight, set an actual time in big, bold letters when the cut off is.

OK next time I will do that. I did say "1 hour for picks" at 2 but the only reason I made the deadline an hour or so earlier than the prelims was so someone couldn't edit their fights after a quick finish. Maybe I'll make it like a half an hour before next time. I'll let you guys decide wether to allow bruinsfan46 in.

Yeah I think I was 8-2 overall, pretty solid. Glad Pettis won though, crazy kick he had in the first round. He's quickly becoming my favorite fighter to watch. Roller looked horrible.

I thought it was an okay card in general, but not great or anything. Mendes/Swanson was kind of boring.. Cruz/Benevidez was alright. Decent night though.

Roller is an elite level wrestler. Pettit, though, has INSANE balance. Everyone forgets this. The guy is so hard to get down. And when you get down with him, what are you going to do? He's going to go for subs left and right. He's such a hard fighter to prepare for.

I dont have a dog in this fight but in the interest of fairness, if you set a deadline, then it should be observed.

Well it says when it was the last time edited their posts, so it should be pretty easy. Obviously anyone who edits their post after the fights start are ineligible, but as long as you get them in before they start I don't see what issues there would be.

I've never really underrated Pettis, I've really liked him for awhile now. My problem is that Roller looked so good in his last fight over Njokuani. Tonight kind of proved that the fight was more about Njokuani needing a bunch of work still and not so much Roller being anything too great yet.

I'm pretty shocked there isn't more talk about the Jorgensen/Pickett fight. The pace was incredible, both guys are true warriors, I couldn't beleive the shots both of them were eating.

It's right up there for fight of the year, at least for this guy. I'm really interested to see Cruz/Jorgensen, Scotty should be able to keep the pace and close the distance in a way Cruz hasn't felt before.

Jorgensen is the man, the next 135 lbs. WEC champ!

Mad props to Pettis also, I was really impressed with his TDD, I knew he was dynamic but I didn't think he'd be able to stuff Roller. He has his hands full with Smooth though, I really can't see him winning that fight.

Full credit, you called this one pretty good. I haven't had a chance to watch any of the fights from last night but it sounds like Pettis' takedown defense held up a lot better than I was expecting it to.

Speaking of which, here's his fight vs the Polish guy with the weird dome from last night (I don't think it was aired?)

yikes. Sorry Tony. At least there wasn't much of that "gay" ground fighting.

Thanks for the link, nice fight! They should've found a way to slip that into to the broadcast at some point yesterday, pretty weak on WEC's part.

That Polish guy looked good. I didn't even look him up before the fight because his name was too hard to remember.
