Hunter intends to use the offensive skill some of his blue-liners bring, especially Tinordi. Imagine former Knights defenceman John Carlson, only add size and toughness.

No fighting in the NCAA. He's gonna learn how to fight in the O.
Yeah but how do you teach a prospect to fight this late in the game?
Not saying it's bad that he's going to London, because I think we have way too little OHL prospects, just that if he stayed at Notre Dame, it wouldn't be as big of a deal as Leblanc in Harvard.

He doesn't have the best offensive abilities. That's why. He's got leadership, defensive abilities and can skate. Missing offense. He'll have 0 problems find those in London.
He'll also play in a very tough conference in the West and a tough division with a very good Kitchener and Guelph teams and hopefully a much better Erie and Sarnia.

I've never seen on NHL center ice. If you have the NHL Network channel you'll get a select few. If you have Sportsnet you'll get between 2-4 Knights games.

As far as the question about whether this is the order in which the defense should play out, this is how I see it but I still think D'Orazio may be dealt. If not, Mike probably is in the top 4. Tinordi is definitely in the top 2 pairings, it just depends what they need in each pairing. Harrington is a star 2nd year player who is amazing on both ends of the ice. The size of this defense is enormous which is unusual for a London team. Jared will get 20+ minutes per game, every game. He will definitely be one of our shut down defensemen and PK pairing. As for the PP, I am not sure who will get that job but he will be given his chances.
As far as Jared being better off in NCAA or OHL, that is the argument of the century. This is what I think is the reasoning behind his decision.
#1 Montreal wants him to play there
#2 He will get big time all purpose minutes in London
#3 He won't be playing behind other defensemen in London as he would in NCAA. London's defense is very young.
#4 Huge difference in the number of games played per year
#5 Playing in front of huge crowds every game 10,000 vs. 200
#6 Coaching - Hunter prospects do well in the NHL - great track record
#7 Coaching part 2 - Hunter played with Jared's dad and are great friends
#8 London has a great training facility, trainers and medical staff so the argument of more off ice training in NCAA is marginal in my mind
#9 More exposure playing in London, games televised, interviews, many scouts every game
#10 Competition is so strong in the OHL with Windsor, Kitchener etc. always recruiting and icing the best possible teams every year.
#11 Playing against a lot of the top drafted and or ranked players from Canada, USA, and Import players from Russia, etc.
#12 This way Jared can go to training camp this year. This could be the number 1 reason he comes. This is where I think NCAA is losing miserably with keeping recruits. This rule of eligibility if you report to camp is stupid. Just the exposure to the NHL experience, playing along side top end NHL players, coaches, and trainers,to these players is an enormous benefit. They return to their Junior team and know what to work on as far as skills, strength, dietary, or what ever which will help them make the jump.
#13 Fighting and NHL style gritty play. NCAA has no fighting and to be ready for the NHL game today wearing that cage and not having to worry about anybody taking your head off after every big hit which he is known for. Dale and Mark Hunter will teach him all he needs to know about that part of the game.
#14 Defense coach Beauliou is a very good coach. He is a good teacher and has helped develop a number of players like Harrington, Carllson of Washington,Syvret, etc.
#15 Education - he probably would not have finished his education at the NCAA and London has very good post-secondary schools (UWO, U of W) and I am sure he won't be paying for it.

Mike D'Orazio - over-ager this year - I still think he could be dealt

Beaulieu almost ruined Sauve in St.John so I'm not sure I'd put him on the side of "positives".
Look at what Beaulieu built in Saint John. Beaulieu is great at developing young D-men. He's always done a great job in London. Last year there was a group of nobodies in London and made them solid defensively and allowed the offensively gifted one to do his thing.
I think Gauthier or the organization deserves some credit here. Avtsin coming to NA, though it looked like he was going to stay in Russia. Leblanc playing for the Juniors though it looked like he was going to stay with Harvard and now Tinordi playing for the nights.
Though we don't really know if Gauthier/the organization did anything to convince them, but it looks like we've been a lot more active with Gauthier.
I have heard that about Beauliou in the Quebec League but wasn't that as a Head coach and not a defense coach? He has done a great job here in London but that is just my opinion. Everyone can have their own opinion

What if Sauvé is not THAT great to begin with? How about Grant and/or Despres' progression?
Beaulieu might not be the ideal head coach. Who knows how much of a role he played with the D's when he was the head coach anyway. But as a defensive specialist, sorry but it's pretty tough to not determine that he's been a key to a lot of young and promising defencemen. Though as great as you can be, it's still possible that you can have 100% success with everybody. In his case, there are a lot more positives than negatives.

hmm very good points. Looks like everything is going well this summer in terms of the prospects, everything is going the way the fans have wanted so far in terms of these three players.

I dont think so, it's not like the guy was 6'6'' and 180 pounds.... he's already at 212 so probably next year he will be ready to go Pro in Hamilton.

Most of the time, first rounders will get signed. Sure there's Fischer, but he's a rare case. That being said, I'm sure the Habs don't care in Tinordi's case because they are pretty confident to sign him nomather what. After all, they did trade up to get him...

Exactly right. Guys like Tinordi on the other hand? I think playing in the O under Hunter balances out the 2 lost years of decision time in the Habs brass' minds. If I were to guess, that is.
Habs have to be pleased with this, I think. Maybe ever so slightly cautious based on the Kostitsyn example. Tinordi seems like a CHL-style player, and I think his hoped-for development curve has to fit better in the CHL. We drafted him to be big and tough and snarly, and while it's not impossible to develop that part of his game in the NCAA too (there are always examples, Greene and others), it seems like an easier path in the CHL.
And for all that the Hunter style game can have some unwanted side effects from time to time, the main thing is that they play the heck out of their key guys, and if Tinordi has it in him to be the player we hope he is, then he could be in a spot to get 25 minutes, and if his skills allow it, he can get exposure to powerplay time and play with skill players, perhaps to greater degree than the slow break-in process of playing on a top NCAA team.
CHL vs. NCAA isn't automatically a CHL-win in every case for me, but in the specifics of Tinordi-to-London, it's an easy win, I say.
