Pretty much any above average 15 year old gets to play in it (and the odd 16 year old). The game itself is pretty meaningless - there might be a few top end guys in it. It's good recognition for the kids but that's about it.

Very good player and kid...only issue is really his skating, which is somewhat dreadful.

anyone see any of the charlottetown islanders games at the monctonian? really looked like a contender. the 3 names mentioned earlier in the thread harrison wood, craig maclauchlan and ross johnston all stood out. wood and maclauchlan were named mvp's of the tournament i believe. wood can really run a powerplay and maclauchlan works at 100% all the time. johnston is a big body with nice hands and can skate when he wants to. i think all 3 would be valuable to a q team at the draft.

Is it possible to draft any player who don't have 16/17 years old? ^^ (Of course, I mean Junior Age, not real life age )

I heard from a reliable source that there is major interest from Shawinigan in Ellis. Possibly our 1st rounder back and a player

How does this one match up to years past? As a Moosehead fan, we might have another pick near the top, currently sitting in 4th last. Who should we target?

Nathan Mackinnon is local kid and the no1 rank prospect and maybe the top 95 in NA

Do you guys know for which team is Nathan Mackinnon playing? The Midget Kiwanis Tournament is only in 5 days and I wonder if his team is going to play in the tournament.

By the way, this year, there will be a Team Québec, regrouping all the best U16 players for the next QMJHL draft from Québec. That could be very interesting to watch.

Here's the line-up :

# Name Position Birth Height Weight
2 David Bédard Defensemen 06/06/1995 5'9'' 157
3 Samuel Morin Defensemen 12/07/1995 6'3'' 172
4 Maxime Gravel Defensemen 12/02/1995 6'0'' 169
5 Jonathan Deschamps Defensemen 16/04/1996 6'0'' 178
6 Alexandre Gosselin Defensemen 22/04/1995 5'11'' 157
7 Justin Vanier-Guénette Defensemen 22/05/1995 5'10'' 169
8 Élie Bérubé Defensemen 02/08/1995 5'9'' 183
9 Carl Tremblay Defensemen 15/02/1995 6'0'' 181
10 Anthony Duclair Forward 26/07/1995 5'10'' 152

16 Philippe Venne Forward 01/03/1995 5'8'' 172
17 Jonathan Drouin Forward 28/03/1995 5'8'' 151
18 Vincent Dunn Forward 14/09/1995 5'9'' 160

Saw a couple of these guys play yesterday in the U17 tournament. Other than MacKinnon, I would say Anthony Duclair was the biggest stand out. He's a speedy forward with a good set of hands. Jérémy Grégoire also stood out in the game, but I didn't get a good read on him. Always impressive when these kids can represent their province at 15 and actually make an impact at a big tournament like the U17.

First day of the Kiwanis Tournament. Nothing very big, only 5 games, 3 of the them were Midget AA level. And I've seen only one of the two Midget AAA game. Not a lot of top prospects for this draft for the Intrépides. I liked the play of Quinn O'Brien ('95 - C, 6'2", 178 pounds). Good skate, like to drive the net, got an apple in the game, like his play in general. The two other '95 Gatineau have are G Storm Phaneuf and C Vincent Dunn. Phaneuf wan't test a lot, but he made some important saves. Very active goaltender, seems good on his knee. For Dunn, I havn't seen him. Probably not his best game, so I'll try to spot him more later in the tournament. Best player on the ice was undrafted F Joey Brisebois. Can't believe nobody took a chance with him. He's big, he's strong, he impressed me.

One of the most interesting game of the tournament will be tomorrow, when the U16 Québec Team will face the Halifax Titans!

Yup, I've seen them and let me tell you they are pretty impressive! Some players caught my attention more than others (and it's just normal).

My favorite one is by far F Frédérick Gauthier. He's a big guy (6'3", 193 pounds), he's strong, good shot, good skate and I like the way he's playing on the ice. He surely has some defaults and he will have to work on them, but he's always the first one on the puck and he's play on the Penlaity Kill is just awesome. I've seen him a few times on 3 on 5 situation and I was impress by how dominant he was.

For the other players, I liked too F Samuel Desbiens (5'11", 163 pounds, but he,s way bigger than that, I can't believe). He's a big hitter, maybe he tried too much some times, but you can't hate a guy with that much physical presence on the ice.

F Anthony De Luca (5'7", 190 pounds) has the best hands of the tournament I think. He's a wonderful stickhandler and every time he touches the puck, you know something will happen.

F Alex Guilbault (5'7", 151 pounds) has something interesting offensively. He's not the show man on the ice, but he's able to put the puck behind the goaltender and that's the most important.

F Vincent Dunn (5'9", 160 pounds) is not the most skill player on the ice, but he's one of the most hard worker. I espacially liked him when he played with Gauthier and Desbiens. Dunn is an intense player and those three together, it did some sparkles! ^^

In defense, nothing as interesting as last season, but some names caught my attention, like Maxime Gravel (6'0", 169 pounds) and Carl Tremblay (6'0", 181 pounds).

And in the nets, well... Clearly the weakness of this team. That's crazy to say, Team Québec without a strong goaltender! Wow!

In another order of idea, I agree with all you guys talking about Bronson Beaton : he is very impressive on the ice. He's a goal scorer, 7 goals in 4 games, co-leader in the tournament in the category, the only '95. He got a game of 4 goals the other day!

And finally, a name to remember for the following Import Draft : F Frederik Tiffels, playing for the German team, I have the feeling it's not the last time I saw him in Québec!

And one more thing. Fredericton Canadiens had a '97 defenseman name Luc Dechenes in their line-up. He's 13 and he's playing Midget AAA!!! Maybe the first pick overall... in tow years!!!

94's

Does anyone have a list of 94's that weren't drafted last year (N.S., & Quebec preferably) who could be potential late picks?

late picks

This one is for all you would be scouts out there. It easy to pick out the top end talent , But do you have the kahoonas to list late rounders for this years Q draft!! Not only to get drafted but to excel .
