Logan Couture vs. Nazem Kadri

Two similarly aged centres from the same hometown.

Meh, I like Couture's game better, but Kadri has more offensive potential.

I picked Couture and fairly easily as well. He's without a doubt got the better overall game and really doesn't give much up if anything offensively. Couture scored at a higher clip over his OHL career than Kadri did on teams that were never offensive power houses. And his 53 points in 42 games in the AHL as a 20 year old is much more impressive than any one of Kadri's single seasons so far. Couture's a lot less flashy but he gets the job done and I think he'll get the job done more than Kadri.

Couture is a 3rd liner and I don't see the potential for any more than that, so Kadri easily.

some stats, and it helps that both played in the same league. so its not like one came out of the more offensive minded quebec major jr league, and the other out of the defensive minded whl.

kadri ohl career (so far). 186 gp, 57 goals, 108 assists, 165 points (0.88 points per game)

couture ohl career. 232 gp, 111 goals, 176 assists, 287 points (1.23 points per game)

so if kadri goes back for his 4th and final year of eligibility, just to tie couture in points and goals and assists. he will need to score 54 goals, 68 assists, 122 points.

to put that into perspective, taylor hall only scored 106 points in his best year. that would be like putting up crosby quebec major jr numbers, i just don't see it happening.

you don't see the potential in couture being more then a 3rd liner? if there is any reason that couture stays a 3rd liner his entire career it is because he's stuck behind thornton and marleau, and pavelski.

when couture was drafted, he was touted as a future 1st or 2nd line center and future captain of an nhl team.

what gives kadri more potential then couture? is it because couture isn't as fast?

because i've seen couture play lots in the nhl and his game fits fine in the nhl, he's smart, he's good with the puck, he has good hands, he's good along the boards, he's a good passer, and a pretty accurate shot.

hence the reason he put up 287 points and 111 goals in 4 years in the ohl. something kadri can only dream of.

and why in his 1st professional year in the ahl, he put up 57 points in 42 games. and 9 points in 25 games in the nhl's regular season, and 4 points in 15 games in the nhl playoffs (all goals)

lol. Kadri outproduced him in his 3rd and 4th seasons.

I'm sure it's not something so special that it's "something he can only DREAM of"... Since he scored 235 points in his last 3 years. Maybe, just maybe it was his rookie season of 22 points is the reason he got "outproduced" by Couture.

I don't know where you got your numbers from but they are way off, for one thing Kadri doesn't have a 4th year of eligibility.

Where did you get your Kadri numbers?

Anyways, here's some real numbers:

Last 2 seasons in the OHL:

Kadri: 171 points in 112 regular season games for 1.53 per game and 48 points in 26 games in the playoffs for 1.85 per game.

Couture: 145 points in 113 games for 1.28 per game and 13 points in 11 games in the playoffs for 1.18 per game.

It's great to see that Kadri picks it up in the playoffs.

LOL, having posters like you as the Leafs most active on the main boards is really what gives Leafs posters a bad name. 53 points in 42 games in the AHL and then 9 points in 25 NHL games playing 10 mins/night as a 20 year old and you really don't see any potential for more than a third liner? Really?
