Trade with Vancouver?

Any chance Tampa would make this trade?

Kevin Bieksa
Jannik Hansen
Sergei Shirokov

for

Ty Wishart
James Wright

Hansen is similar to Wright but more developed - a very versatile player. Can be frustrating to watch cause of all the chances he blows, but he's a real try-hard.
Bieksa, well not going to sugarcoat it too much, he really sucked last year. He doesn't fit in anymore with the salary structure on the Canucks. That said, he's likely to hit 40 points, and win some fights, and help the powerplay. Also it's a contract year, so maybe he'll light it up - and maybe a change of scenery, and coaching, will do him wonders. Classic risk vs. reward.
Shirokov made the team out of camp last year, and is very skilled with the puck. He seems to have a good attitude, and if the Lightning choose to open it up he would look good on that kind of system for sure.

Canucks are not desperate for, but definitely in need of, a young defenseman who can play some games this year in the bigs but get through waivers (Wishart's doesn't have to pass waivers right?). He looks to have tools that could really balance out the d corps.
Wright is a local Vancovuer guy, who could turn into a good Hansen replacement in a couple years hopefully, and maybe more. I like his skating and size, well at least he looked good in the dub last year (played against the Johanssen-Nino line in the playoffs if I remember right).

Hard to deny that this trade makes the Lightning better this year - but the Canucks need to move Bieksa and this trade could help them immensely down the road.

Thisssssss.............isnt all that bad to be honest. Im a huge Wishart proponent though so it makes me stop. Bieksa is a big question mark in this trade. If it was the Bieksa of two years ago then I would probably say yes for sure.

yea value wise it isn't bad at all, its pretty fair, but it really goes against yzermans patient approach and developing young players plus bieksa could just walk after next year which would be a waste.

To be completely honest as a huge Canucks fan, if any team takes Bieksa for anything of value it will be hailed as a coup for Gillis. But he does have value, and in all likelihood he will get back to form in his contract year.
He was a huge fan favorite here before his leg injuries, and he can play well with the right partner and with the right amount of ice time.
Tampa Bay looks like they could fight for a playoff spot this year, with the new management and ownership they could be pretty eager to taste that. I don't think Wishart will help as much as Bieksa and Hansen.

If Yzerman is as great as he looks to be, Bieksa could very well want to re-sign there. Plus Hansen isn't that much older than Wright, he's cheap (RFA after this year), and in the prime of his career.

Any chance we could change Lashoff for Wishart?

If Wishart is out then Hansen would have to be held back from a Canucks point of view...Lashoff seems to be a fringe guy at best. Which honestly could be all Gillis is looking for. Maybe swap Hansen for Hordichuk?
Wright would be an easy sell here.
